I know what you're thinking that my opinion is. "Throwing Knives 2 OP needed n3rfing".
No. No, no, no , no , no and no.
Seriously, why Bungie? What was the need. I can even list some reasons why you've just made a massive c0ck-up.
1. Throwing Knives rewarded a skillful aim.
2. They have a rather long cool down.
3. They rarely OHKD as the most ran the precision perk.
4. They were the Gunslingers only counter to other classes longer range melees.
5. It felt rewarding to land a clutch throwing knife.
If these aren't the best reasons I apologise. I'm sure you can list some better ones below.
I just can't understand the logical side of the persons brain who decided that throwing knives were unbalanced? If you had to you could have just removed the incendiary knife...
Seriously, now I'm worried for shoulder charge, despite the range of the Stormcaller melee.
For proof that the Stormcaller melee is bad just watch Nkuch's latest video where he melees someone on Black Shield from past the OHK range of a Party Crasher.
Just know this hunters, we feel you.
Edit: For those complaining that I am biased against warlocks I am not. I just have my views on their melees. Purely my opinion. I don't really want to see nerf posts on here either.

Nerfs were bad, buffs were good. Let's put it that way. I hardly use striker but I'm sure it'll be getting the nerf now. To bungi: Separating pvp and pve e would solve this, .......or maybe you want people chasing stuff and you're doing all of this not of incompetence but on purpose. Idk
-
I was never upset when I was killed by a TK.
-
As a Warlock main, I agree with this. I never felt salty at all when killed by a throwing knife. It always felt like the balanced counter to longer range warlock melee and Shoulder Charge.
-
I don't know why they couldn't have just reduced how many times the burn ticks instead of nerfing all throwing knives...
-
Surprisingly they still work for me. Never got a OHK with them. I still shoot a few times with primary and then throw the knife. Still getting plenty of Stick Around medals.
-
Because Bungie logic is simple: If you're not killing something with a sniper, shotgun, or high rof pulse rifle you're doing it wrong. Doing things that "take skill" are all OP because once you get that skill you are OP. Bungie can't let you be OP (unless it's with one of the aforementioned weapon types) because if you're too good you might become better than the streamers who Bungie caters their game for. Bottom line, this game is made for the top 1% and the nerfs are a way to keep us in check.
just like damage ref, random lag, and predetermined match outcomes
-
nKuch? No thanks, LOL.
nobody gives a -blam!- if ur a striker
-
The want to limit the kind of kills you can get with the knife. Thats all. It was only a 10% reduction. There are still ways to use it, you just have to adjust your playstyle abit thats all. I understand it wasnt necessary, but to achieve what they want with the throwing knife this had to happen. I main a Sunbreaker btw.
-
They were fine. If the ohko was the problem yeah agreed do something to incendiary blade not the whole damn subtree. On top of that when they changed the burn on viking funerel and touch of flame they changed the incendiary grenades for titan and hunter. Was that an oversight or something? Ggaah
-
Right on.
-
As a striker myself, throwing knife did not deserve a nerf. Should never of been considered for a nerf
-
Thank you for mentioning it. Hunters' only long-range melee abilities were nerfed. Throwing knife? Nope, nerfed. Blink strike? Again nerfed. Bungie is essentially trying to make blink strike and throwing knives useless. If you can't lunge with a blink strike, what's the point? It's like any other melee.
-
They should've left the Tn and for the tripmine should've kept the dmg. I had always survived running past them with 2% health before the nerf.
-
I disagre, I would get killed at least a dozen or so times each game....they are single handedly responsible for more kills in PVP then any other ability just short of Firebolt grenades. ....can't remember how many times I'd be camping with my Shotgun when BLAM!! Killed by another firebolt grenade.
-
"The DoT on the flaming throwing knife is too powerful." *Nerfs base throwing knife damage*
wat?
-
Such kind words. I appreciate your sympathy. ~INDY
-
My only gripe is that I typically run a hand cannon + sniper combo and throwing knives were a way for me to have a CQC bailout if I had enough time to react to someone rushing me. I could body shot with my HC and get a throwing knife kill to the head. I'm pretty sure I either need to get a headshot now in order to do enough damage for a kill. I have reluctantly switched to Bladedancer as a result, and will likely only use gunslinger moving forward for mayhem playlists.
-
Knife, meet skull. Throwing knives were fun, in no way OP or in need of a nerf and a very rewarding kill.
-
Fire 1-2 shots, throw knife. Repeat
-
Though throwing knives required some prescion they have a massive hit box when it comes to pvp. It's not as skillful as people would like to say they are, that being said, they were in a good place before the nerf, not to powerful and not that bad either.
