I know what you're thinking that my opinion is. "Throwing Knives 2 OP needed n3rfing".
No. No, no, no , no , no and no.
Seriously, why Bungie? What was the need. I can even list some reasons why you've just made a massive c0ck-up.
1. Throwing Knives rewarded a skillful aim.
2. They have a rather long cool down.
3. They rarely OHKD as the most ran the precision perk.
4. They were the Gunslingers only counter to other classes longer range melees.
5. It felt rewarding to land a clutch throwing knife.
If these aren't the best reasons I apologise. I'm sure you can list some better ones below.
I just can't understand the logical side of the persons brain who decided that throwing knives were unbalanced? If you had to you could have just removed the incendiary knife...
Seriously, now I'm worried for shoulder charge, despite the range of the Stormcaller melee.
For proof that the Stormcaller melee is bad just watch Nkuch's latest video where he melees someone on Black Shield from past the OHK range of a Party Crasher.
Just know this hunters, we feel you.
Edit: For those complaining that I am biased against warlocks I am not. I just have my views on their melees. Purely my opinion. I don't really want to see nerf posts on here either.

As a Titan, I've been killed by throwing knifes as being finished off pre-patch. As a Titan, I'm still killed by throwing knives the same way. What was nerfed exactly? Sorry been playing witcher 3 for a while don't see much a difference in crucible honestly
-
Dude it's not even a problem they work perfectly fine lol
-
They wouldn't OHK with any other perks either.
-
Edited by RingersCheckmate: 6/20/2016 6:57:20 PMYou know, it's not useless. We just can't depend on it as much. Please, don't support us victimizing ourselves even further. I'd really like my hunter class to grow a pair.
-
I feel that golden gun got hit to hard. I didn't feel like trip mines were as overpowered as fire bolts. If knifes and trip mines got nerfed why didn't shoulder charge or juggernaut get nerfed. It doesn't make since to me
-
Edited by Urks: 6/20/2016 7:00:30 PMI'm a Hunter main but I only agree with #3 #4 and #5 on your list.
-
Your post is very sensible and clean. I think the main thing is they don't want a a ranged melee to have one shot POTENTIAL. Some would fit shoulder charge into this category, but it's far more situational and has stiffer use requirements.
-
This! Thanks for the mature & well put together post I have one of each character, but I am going to come out and just say this ... Bungie you seriously messed up on this update!
-
just never let it become this
-
Edited by TheKumarEffect: 6/20/2016 7:56:49 PMIt still makes the opponent one shot just like how throwing knives were before. If you think the nerf ruined throwing knives you aren't a true hunter
-
What I don't understand is everything is op this op that.. Throwing knives too op .. Etc.. etc.. But
shoulder charge is a one hit kill
-
Throwing knives have tracking. Lol
-
Being a Striker myself i don't think anything in the update apart from Bullets hoses and Shadestep should of been nerfed
-
Throwing knives should of been buffed!! To match how lethal shoulder charge is, and to counter warlocks, we have good melees on all classes. (Warlock main).
-
As a Gunslinger through and through, I appreciate your understanding. Throwing knives were a big part of my arsenal but they're not cutting it at the moment (pardon the pun). Would have far less problem with shoulder charge if I had abilities to counter it (stickable tripmine, throwing knife that damages enough to allow me to get sufficient primary damage in).
-
Thank you for being rational about it and not being a complete arse about it
-
Felt nice to get kills, I clutched a ToO round 1v2. Both kills coming from throwing knifes, but that's life Bungie doesn't understand how to buff and nerf anything properly. I just hope Bungie gives Grasp the hopscotch treatment.
-
Before the April update I thought gunslingers and voidwalkers were in the same spot balance wise, meaning not the best choice but very destructive in the right hands. And then they buff void then nerf gun?
-
I didn't have a problem with throwing knives either. I salute anyone who kills me with it because I can't use it to save my freaking life. I love my Gunslinger but I rarely use my Throwing Knife. I even forget it's there. Whenever I try to melee someone and I see a knife thrown out, I'm like, "WTF? I didn't want a knife!" LOL! This nerf was uncalled for, and so was the trip mine. I loved the trip mine and I loved watching it attach to someone and explode, sometimes taking me down with them. Bungie sure knows how to take the fun out of a game.
-
It's a 10% nerf. Throwing knives are fine.
-
I dont see them enough
-
A melee with infinite range that can do both DoT and precision damage? Shoulder charge is just as bad.
-
Even with the nerf knives aren't terrible, although they are noticeably worse. But they still have the same use as always - follow up with a knife, DONT lead with it.

Nerfs were bad, buffs were good. Let's put it that way. I hardly use striker but I'm sure it'll be getting the nerf now. To bungi: Separating pvp and pve e would solve this, .......or maybe you want people chasing stuff and you're doing all of this not of incompetence but on purpose. Idk
