I know what you're thinking that my opinion is. "Throwing Knives 2 OP needed n3rfing".
No. No, no, no , no , no and no.
Seriously, why Bungie? What was the need. I can even list some reasons why you've just made a massive c0ck-up.
1. Throwing Knives rewarded a skillful aim.
2. They have a rather long cool down.
3. They rarely OHKD as the most ran the precision perk.
4. They were the Gunslingers only counter to other classes longer range melees.
5. It felt rewarding to land a clutch throwing knife.
If these aren't the best reasons I apologise. I'm sure you can list some better ones below.
I just can't understand the logical side of the persons brain who decided that throwing knives were unbalanced? If you had to you could have just removed the incendiary knife...
Seriously, now I'm worried for shoulder charge, despite the range of the Stormcaller melee.
For proof that the Stormcaller melee is bad just watch Nkuch's latest video where he melees someone on Black Shield from past the OHK range of a Party Crasher.
Just know this hunters, we feel you.
Edit: For those complaining that I am biased against warlocks I am not. I just have my views on their melees. Purely my opinion. I don't really want to see nerf posts on here either.

Only counter to shotguns, shoulder charge, and warlocks insane melee range. But hey, we'll adjust
-
1. They curve in mid air. 2. Max Strength = 25 second cool down. Not long at all.
-
Wait, they nerfed throwing knifes? They all felt the same to me..
-
Yeah a bad change. I understand wanting to remove OHK but the way to do it would have been to change the burn perk the same way it was for locks.
-
please help me to spread awareness on how OP Shoulder charge is #nerfthecharge
-
i love how this post has triggered a bunch of wise ass warcocks, bragging about their "power" and complaining that hunters were quote "entering the warlocks domain" or what ever. But to be truthfull i agree with op, getting a kill with the hunter throwing knives was a reward for being able to skillfully aim and its fair seeing as how hunters have the shortest melee, but titans will soon share the pain seeing as how the shoulder charge and lightning grenade are almost certainly going to be nerfed, damn nerf herders.

I traded a shoulder charge with a throwing knife guy we killed each other and I thought good throw man good throw

Ok lets have it from a Warlock's view. -Throwing knives are a skilled, powerful Hunter tool that has potential to body shot with Handcannon or sidearm and hit em in the hit head for a 2hko. We Warlocks don't have much of a problem except for this... At times we feel that ranged melees should not be that powerful. Our melees just have a unique effect such as regen on impact or perhaps an overshield that is not that affective. Or simply an overrange punishing melee that only does 1/2 of hp like a normal punch, force, or stab. Now why do we get a bit salty from Knives? Well the reason is that they are entering a domain that belongs to Warlocks primarily. If they have really powerful knives that have infinite range, then what does it means for us? It means the whole thought of having ranged melee's is useless and we are better off with a Hunter since Blink Strike has a range of a Warlock melee and Throwing Knives have more damage output than any Warlock melees, placing them in a bad position. Now do we want a nerf? No not really. A little impact reduction would be good so people who have mastered their knives won't trigger the infinite loop of 'shoot 1 or 2 bullets, throw knife to head. Repeat.' Maybe it could be 'shoot 3 times with my AR then throw knife-repeat.' Thats what Warlocks would think of this. Now I'm not sayin the Lunge nerf was justified, we were ok with Blink Strike since they reduced the front stab potential. So we are happy with Blade dancer but Throwing Knives impact reduction was kind of needed so the infinite loop doesn't happen 24/7
-
Don't like our ideas? Then we're nerfing Night stalker, gunslinger and blade dancer that the super now activates 10 seconds later also were nerfing hunters again. Hunters don't have a jump anymore also melee and grenade activation is delayed by 4 seconds. ~Bungie (Why use logic when you can -blam!- others over)

6. In close range a hunter tends to throw his knife instead of stabbing with it.

Edited by A_101cj_: 6/21/2016 2:35:10 AMI know, that melee nkuch did hit that guy from Africa! Shoulder charges are good for me at least, I heard people say that they always wiff their shoulder charges since the hit registration is terrible. Watch cammy cakes, he one shot a guardian with a throwing knife with full health. He had the burning damage on the knives, and used the exotic that gives you lingering damage when you melee someone. He crouches, throws the knife while going invis at the time the knife hits the target, and so the lingering damage stacks
4. They were the Gunslingers only counter to other classes longer range melees.
Warlocks have a long melee range, and you say that Gunslinger no longer has a counter? Sure. Radiance is beyond pathetic when compared to Golden Gun and 2 of Sunsinger's Grenades are worthless now. For all the Hunters complaining that Gunslinger was hit too hard, Sunsinger is borderline unusable now and certainly has no viable customisation.

The hitbox for throwing knives was too big
-
Bungho hate thumb skills. Bungho love Stormcaller, Fist of Panic.
-
Played a few games as a hunter today, throwing knife was ok. Got a few headshots with it, felt good.
-
Personally the nerf had no impact on me(still ending lives with throwing knives). The tripmine nerf, I'm still a bit salty about that but at some point I will adapt. In the meantime I'm having alot of fun using Invis/Universal Remote/Fusion Rifle/Khepris Sting.
-
The only nerf needed for Shoulder Charge is just to make it consume a melee charge. That, or have it do regular melee damage, but always be active (no losing it after sprinting a while) with increased range and solar wind knock back damage.
-
Here's my view on throwing *guardian down*
-
And it was hilarious when you got a knife in your head mid shoulder charge and got blasted across the map
-
The throwin knife nerf along with the tripmine not being able to stick on players made no sense whatsoever.
-
Throwing Knife is the only melee in the game that has to recharge when they don't hit anything.
-
Not sure if you are aware of this, but you can still throw a knife and it will still do damage.
-
I haven't used them since the nerf, so I don't know how severe it is. I love throwing knives and I mainly use gunslinger. I hope the nerf wasn't too bad since the knives and tripmines are so fun to use. I really enjoy using my hunter and think nerfing it is unnecessary.

Ive always felt that seeing a throwing knife kill in the feed was awesome. Rarely see it. Rip ever seeing it now lol
