I know what you're thinking that my opinion is. "Throwing Knives 2 OP needed n3rfing".
No. No, no, no , no , no and no.
Seriously, why Bungie? What was the need. I can even list some reasons why you've just made a massive c0ck-up.
1. Throwing Knives rewarded a skillful aim.
2. They have a rather long cool down.
3. They rarely OHKD as the most ran the precision perk.
4. They were the Gunslingers only counter to other classes longer range melees.
5. It felt rewarding to land a clutch throwing knife.
If these aren't the best reasons I apologise. I'm sure you can list some better ones below.
I just can't understand the logical side of the persons brain who decided that throwing knives were unbalanced? If you had to you could have just removed the incendiary knife...
Seriously, now I'm worried for shoulder charge, despite the range of the Stormcaller melee.
For proof that the Stormcaller melee is bad just watch Nkuch's latest video where he melees someone on Black Shield from past the OHK range of a Party Crasher.
Just know this hunters, we feel you.
Edit: For those complaining that I am biased against warlocks I am not. I just have my views on their melees. Purely my opinion. I don't really want to see nerf posts on here either.

I have to agree here. I main a Titan while I do have 330+ Hunter/Warlock in my arsenal. For a Hunter to OHK with a knife prior to the unnecessary nerf, it meant it was a pretty skilled player. In comparison to any number of other OHK abilities out there, the knife had absolutely NO reason to be nerfed. There are far too many Nerfketeers in this community that are ruining the experience of the game. Buff it all, I say. Give the players options to use whatever they want and let the chips fall where they may. These pointless cries for nerfs remind me of my days playing Quake - same weapons, same damage, same TTK, same everything and ya know what? People still got p0wned. Know why? Because it matters NOT how good you are, what weapons you use, how much you cry, whine, or complain, there will ALWAYS be someone better than you. I have been running Mida and gotten owned by someone running a blue hand cannon. I ran DoP and have been destroyed by someone running NLB at AR ranges. At the same time, I have run Mida and gone on a 2.5kd match and have pulled almost 3kd with DoP. You cannot win every match and own every single lobby. You are going to lose battles. Some games you will lose most and others you will lose only a few. These are the realities of the game. Repeated nerfing only hurts the experience and forces all of these unique little blueberry snowflakes to herd together on the same eq because they feel they can still be "competitive." Let it go - enjoy the game, ride the highs and forget the lows - it all ebbs and flows. And for GOD's SAKE - STOP CRYING FOR NERFS!!!! That's it. I'm done. Thanks for reading.

I haven't gotten the chance to use Gunslinger in crucible yet. I'm scared.
-
Throwing knives are fun to use. They could do like 50 damage and i'd still use em
They have a rather long cool down.
25 Seconds is a long cooldown?

No one ever complained about them, and when I'm typically killed by a throwing knife, I don't get mad, I actually mutter "Good sh*t mate"... That nerf was very unnecessary
-
Longer melee range counter? Use your primary! I main defender, I have the worst melee range, I have skills.
-

(for the record I love striker and shoulder charge but that's just a hypocritical statement OP, I'm sorry)
-
I think it should one shot to the head but have a smaller hit box
-
How do you delete a thread.
-
Throwing knives were fine. Frankly I thought they needed a buff!! Now they're practically useless in pve.
-
I never understood how a throwing knife can OHK. They did 158 with a precision hit, 25 with the burn adding up to 183, below the minimum armour you can run on a low armour warlock. Never happened to me, so I'm assuming that people just say they got one shotted when really they've taken a little bit of damage from somewhere else. I'd also point out that the cooldown is the same as any other melee. Anyway, this nerf hasn't really affected them that much, they're primarily a follow up to a few bursts of primary and they still kill in that scenario. Trip mines on the other hand...

Hey so have an idea it might be totally crazy it might be terrible it might be fantastic but instead of bungie having to keep on Nerf stuff why don't they buff it shade step not fast enough for shoulder charge don't nerf shoulder buff shade step certain melees don't stack up to others buff those up
After ten years of needing it will take 1 minute to kill someone
-
Also you have to run charge up your shoulder charge predict if you are going to have enough time ( 5 seconds ) to hit the enemy and even then they can blink away shade step or mow you down soulstealers claw or with petty crasher
-
This is NOT a place for people to whine about shoulder charge. If you little crybabies that give hunters and warlocks a bad name continue, I'll take the thread down. #destiny
lol how can you take this thread down? once posted only a mod can remove it. also #NERFTHECHARGE
-
If u guys didn't shoulder charge every god dam map; we wouldn't have had this problem.
-
so knifes where never a OHK and they still do what they are there for.. kill your opponent in fight
-
Not just that but PvE, i feel the difference. With the melee point boost on CoE, throwing knives on a percision kill will count both melee and percision points. Id focus on the smaller mobs (vex goblins and hob goblins, vandals and dregs, hive acolytes and thrall) and get 1hKO kills, and with the percision kill knife refund perk, i was having a blast. I cant quite do that anymore. Yeah ill need to damage mobs to get that single knife percision kill, but the fun is taken out of it.
-
They've left all other classes defenseless against it, unless a shotgun is involved (possible ploy to solve the sniper conundrum). With viking funeral and tripmines/knives a titan had more of a reason to caution sprinting into a gunfight.
-
THAAANK YOU!!
-
Bungie really likes to nerf things that take skill.
-
I agree. I'll admit that incendiary blade is annoying but overall t-knives were pretty balanced. And think about this. If you took a knife to the face in real life would you live? No. Now I know that this can be countered with "but if you took a sniper shot to the chest you would die." I agree but let's just think about Destiny for a little. The game is set in the future, possibly multiple centuries into the future. So the armor must be more high-tech with more life support. Every armor has a chink, as modern day combat armor offers no protection to the arms, head and shoulders. So just think about this
-
Ya honestly, I hardly ever got killed by throwing knifes. The times I did get killed by it, it was such an amazing shot that I just couldn't argue with it. The reoccurring thought going through my head that I just got outplayed hard.
-
I respect that this is coming from a Titan. <3
-
So you still want to nerf something? We need some candy here
-
I sort of agree but I dunno. I don't think the knerf (ha!) was too severe, but just like "why was this needed?" I main a hunter and I do play with Gunslinger a lot in crucible. I never used the burn perk, but I did toss a lotta knives in skulls for kills. When it happened to me, I never got the impression of it being abused, but more like "oooh, well thrown, sir." So I'm not sure why it needed any balancing. It at least took good aim and timing to pull off. You could miss and waste a charge, leaving yourself wide open. Or hit a body shot and fail to kill. But after the nerf I didn't find it hard to kill with it either. I actually was still completing Crucible quests (I don't usually play a lot of crucible) and the "score throwing knife kills" was one of them. While I couldn't just chuck a knife into an eyesocket, I could still get consistent kills with it. I'd shoot and weaken an enemy then toss a knife anywhere on him. Requires a little more work, but it's still easy. Works really well in those firefights where you're running low on ammo in the clip. So I got mixed feelings about it.
-
At least someone see's the light. I hate calling for nefs but if throwing knife was op then shoulder charge is the most OP thing in destiny. 100% Kill and with little to no effort. You don't even need to be facing the guy you want to hit. Just get close and hit that shoulder charge. I've killed people with it in some dodgy ways.
