I've been playing Destiny since the day it came out. Didn't hear about it till one of my bosses told me about it, I work at Target so it was right in front of me when I was working. Pick up a copy and have been playing it non stop, though I do play extremely less when the content has been out for a while or when an update like "House of Wolves" and the "April Update" comes and makes the game extremely easy to get everything. Nevertheless I still love this amazing game.
Anyways I made this thread because there is a spot in my room where I just keep stuff a like, I mean stuff I really love, some is games, some is music, and some is souvenirs that mean something to me. Then I notice how much of that stuff is destiny, a lot of it then I was wondering how much money I spend on Destiny so I started thinking.
Money spent on everything involving Destiny :
Destiny - $ 54.37
Dark Below + House of Wolves - $ 34.99
Destiny The Taken King (Digital Download) - $ 39.99
Destiny The Taken King Collectors Edition - $ 98.04
Taken King PS4 - $ 362.51
Silver (total amount) - $ 259.93
-*Note*This silver was bought of a course of nine months
-$20 for the orginal emotes
-$40 for the Festival of Lost event and emotes
-$50 on SRL and emotes
-$150 on all 3 sets of Desolate gear, should't have been this much but I was being stupid and opened chest on my Warlock to try to get the Titan and Hunter set.
Bungie Store (total amount) - $154.18
Destiny Rise of Iron - $29.99
Bungie's Twitch Channel - $15.00
Total Amount - $1,049.00
After I did that math I was so shocked, never thought I end up spending that much on a game and stuff that relates to that game. Then I started looking at how much time I play destiny on wastedondestiny.com . Not sure if it adds time afk in the tower, or time afk in orbit in all of it.
Total time spent playing Destiny - 1,744 hours, that is 10 weeks 2 days 16 hours 45 minutes and 22 seconds.
I love this game, it is my second favorite game of all time, first is Tales of Symphonia as seen in the picture. But I do have some interesting stories for Destiny. When TTK dropped and I had class I made sure I woke up at 4am and played for 3 hours before I had to head out for class. When Kings Fall came out, I had to work from 6am to 2:30 but my boss let me come in from 4:am to 12:30 so I can go home and play the raid right when it came out.
Played this game with friends/family/co-workers and so many random people online. Made lots of new friends through LFG and from forums and some enemies arguing. Its just been like any other MMO I've played in the past, very time consuming and got to love the grind with friends, get mad when I don't get something I want then it extremely happy when you finally get what I've been hunting for.
I really do love this game, but am I too obsessed with it? How much money have you guys spent on Destiny, also how much time?

If what you buy makes you happy, then don't let anyone tell you otherwise.
-
I knew tons people that spent $1k-10k on knights and dragons cell phone game couple years back. The top guilss had people throwing money away like it was nothing.
-
Lol it's your money spend it how you please, but $250 on silver? Smh lol you need a girlfriend
-
I have a friend that plays dc universe online. And he has spent 5k on the game. So i think youre good👍
-
Obsessed? Maybe. But I'd rather say you have no control or sense of the worth of your money (unless you really have nothing better to spend it on).
-
Hey, if it makes you happy and your having fun, who cares what your spending your $/time on. I have friends who spend waaaayyyy more money with their hotrods, hunting, fishing, golf trips, drinking, gambling and whatever they are into. For a $1000 you have been playing and having a blast! Good for you!
-
James spend your money where you spend your time. There's nothing wrong with that
-
If you're really wondering if you're obsessed with destiny (or anything else btw) in a negative way, simply ask your family, friends and bank account. If none of those have a problem with you spending lots of time with destiny, you don't have one. 1,000 dollars for a hobby over two years is not really that much. If it's your main hobby, of course. And you're a grown up with regular income.
-
Well if what you posted is true, looks like you've gotten weeks of entertainment for less than 1$ an hour. Most movies are close to 10$ an hour anymore at the theatre. Plus your adding the rise of iron in there, you haven't played that, and surely you will put lots of time into it. I don't see a problem.
-
Tales of symphonia is only good when playing with friends tbh... I can't stand that bitch marta tho -_-
-
Yes you are obsessed with this game. Self control is the key my friend.
-
Edited by Erijian: 6/21/2016 10:10:50 AMAha, you got the Tales of Symphonia: Chronicles Collector's Edition as well. It was a nice nostalgia trip playing the original ToS again, can't say the same about DotNW though. I got box 05575/18000. :) Also it looks like you're missing the Ghost Edition.
-
$250+ on Silver? Are you -blam!-ing kidding? Why? What could you possibly acquire with Silver that's worth that kind of money? Don't get me wrong, I love Destiny. And I'm not morally opposed to microtransactions or anything. But... I just... What? Emotes? Masks? Why?
-
*tries very hard not to be triggered*
-
I mean if you have the $ and your buying destiny shit isn't hurting anyone....who cares.
-
Your title says.. and i answer : Yes! If you like spending your money on that.. i'll say it like nike. Just Do It.
-
No ghost collectors edition dinklebot? Fail. Fail. Fail. Fail.
-
Only 1,744 hours? Thats it? I got 3,180hrs total not including time in orbit or tower.
-
Don't worry lad, hardcore WoW and LoL players avoid eating solid foods so they don't have to use the toilet. The only substance they consume are Adderall and caffeine liquids. That's an obsession. Your good so don't worry about it. BTW, spending only 1k is not over the top. If you spent 12k on a dual socket xeon 12 core, 2x quadro video cards, 4k gaming monitor, 128gb of ram and 2tb SSD for video streaming. That's over the top.
-
Man I should bought stock, you would have help my retirement.
-
-
Duude
-
I met a guy that dropped over $3000 on a game called tera online. Tera is a free to play game...
-
Bullshit no way you spent that money on destiny working at target unless you live off ramen or live with your parents.... My wife worked at target before she graduated college a few years ago. They pay shit
-
Edited by Shagryn: 6/21/2016 1:19:36 AMSome PC MMO players poop in buckets so they don't have to leave the game. You're still safe broski.
-
I think that is a lot, but you pursued your passion and that's all that matters in the end. I'm glad you're happy and that you praised the game so much! Take care guardian!
