Shadow of a Doubt
Matthew Hallwinter's Mind
Before Him stood a veil of shadows: a strange lattice of dust and echoes, yet it was something tangible, real. As real as anything in this dream-state could be. There were other objects in the background, but try as He might, they were distant, and blurry, and shifted out of focus if He stared at one, as if smeared against a faraway wall. Behind the veil stood a copy of Him, yet it was not quite complete. Its face was equally blurry, but its eyes were sharp, and keen, like a predator observing its prey, yet somehow He could tell that it was confused by the way it was standing. Testing its mind, He raises a hand, and the shadow in the veil does the same. Its eyes hungrily gaze through the veil, and He wonders what it sees in Him. He raises his other hand, and the shadow does the same, but it appears reluctant this time, only bringing its hand up after a second's notice. It kept its hands raised for a few seconds longer, before dropping one, and it reaches through the veil to paw at His chest, and despite Himself, the force of the hand causes Him to stumble backwards. He grabs the arm and knocks it aside, but the shadow's eyes are hungry now. It reaches through again, harder, and this time He reaches through the veil and punches it in the chest... Only the blow doesn't connect. The shadow is faster than Him, and it grabs His fist with ease. He throws more blows, but each are deflected with only the slightest of effort, until it decides to hit back. The first blow He manages to block, barely, but the next hit lands, as does the next, and the next, and the next, until He finds Himself lying on the floor, barely conscious. The shadow had stepped through the veil, and now stands over Him, like a grim monument. Perhaps it was only His imagination, but the shadow grinned as it reached down towards His head, and engulfed the world in darkness...
The Bloodwrath
... He woke up with a start, his inhuman reactions barely saving him hitting his head on the stone floor. What strikes him first is that he wore his traditional ceramic Imperial Exoskeleton, and next, the amazing pain in his head, where the shadow had touched him. It was just a dream--he knew that, but he couldn't shake the lingering feeling of uncertainty that he had felt. Matthew Hallwinter grunted as he got to his feet, and began to look for an exit. He didn't know where he was, or how he had gotten there, but he knew that he had to escape, somehow. He had no weapons, and if his gut feeling was correct, none of his Manipular abilities.
He pitied the first enemy that he found.
(Open. Ignore the first part, just say that you found Hallwinter)

"You alright there mate?" You looked over to see a shorter kid, aged 15, dressed in lightly padded leather armor that looked like pure shadow He had a bow strung and with an arrow nocked and ready to fire, and he looked at you curiously, but you noted an unusual revolver at his side, the end jagged and it had lights in parts that glowed deep satin

It doesn't take long before a duo make their way towards Hallwinter down an opposing hallway. One is massive, heavily built with muscle and height, dwarfing his companion... We wore dense metal armor and helmet with only his dirty blonde hair spiking out from the back. Two massive revolvers sat holstered around his waist. His companion was quite different, a woman with fair skin and an hourglass shape with night orange eyes and black hair. She wore a revealing chest piece and curve revealing leg armor. The giant spots Hallwinter first, motioning for the woman to follow as he approaches.
is he evil or..?
-
He'd fall under chaotic neutral, but he can be either. I'd say good for now.
-
Hmmmmmm... Will he try to fuсk shit up given the circumstances?
-
Probably not. If anything can be said about him for certain, it's that he's honorable.
Edited by Shadlezz: 6/14/2016 11:20:54 PM
alrighty. By now, you already know what the ship looks like I assume.
The first thing he noticed, piercing through his headache, was the distant sound of gunfire. And by the sounds of it, there was enough firepower being flung around to conquer a whole region, if not a whole continent.
-
Alright. Just FYI, even unarmed and without abilities, this guy is by far my most powerful character.
He hesitated, his heightened senses detecting the cacophony of gunfire from far, far away from the combat itself. He was unarmed, but this may be his only chance to secure a firearm for himself... And to learn where the hell he was. He continued towards the sound of gunfire.
-
Powerful... welcome to the Warhammer universe my friend.
As he approached, he heard a strange voice piercing over the gunfire. The voice was excessively deep and grovelly. "BWAAHAHAHAHA! DAS RITE, ERE'S WOT YOU GET YA NOB 'EDZ!!" The deep voice laughed madly over the fire.
-
That wasn't good. Ginger froze again, recognizing that voice through the hazy pain in his head. It was from a log that his friend Thomas Weiss had shown him back on Terram in the Golden City... GodKillah, the Ork. Or, at least some kind of Ork. He had only come across a few in his brief time in that dimension, but his predecessor, even fully armed, had struggled against these beasts. He was now magnitudes stronger, but without weapons, or even his Manipular skills... He wouldn't stand a chance. He moved forwards still, seeking cover where he could find it.
-
The massive, Gigantic Ork was the one carrying all that firepower around, he was blasting some lifeforms to bits. Telling what those lifeforms were was difficult, since they were getting utterly vaporized by the blasts.
-
Hallwinter scanned the floor for any weapons, caring little for whatever organisms were being massacred, for the time being. His heavy armor could take quite a few blows, if need be, but there wouldn't be much of a fight if he was unarmed.
-
The Ork didn't drop any weapons, which was odd considering the massive load he lobbed around. As for the others, any weapons they once carried had been charred beyond usefulness.
-
Ginger crouched down, and punches the ground with his armored fist, testing something. The stone shattered under the impact, and he grabbed a fist-sized hunk of rock. He peaks his head up from behind cover, seeing if there's any way to get past the massive Ork warrior.
-
"Huh? Woss dat?" The massive ork turned around, looking to where the noise came from.
-
He gets back into cover before the Ork can detect him, and firmly grasps the stone in his hand. His armor would give him a few seconds of cover, if need be, but nothing more. He throws the stone across the room, away from where he came--it hits the floor with the force of a cannonball, throwing fragments of stone and dust into the air, alongside a massive boom. Hesitating only the second that was necessary, he sprints back towards where he came, hoping that the distraction could buy him time to slip away unseen.
Sorry I'm running away, lol. It just seems like the only way I can get out of here unharmed.
-
"OI HUMIE! DAS ROITE, KEEP RUNNIN' AWAY!" The ork blared out in laughter, firing it's gunz in the air, causing dust of metal to fall.
-
It was alright by Hallwinter. Better live to fight another day than to fight a hopeless battle for your wounded pride. Still, he swore to himself, and for Python's sake, that he would kill Godkillah someday, and end his Wagghh for good. He made his way back to the main junction where he heard the gunfire, and went a different way this time. Hopefully there wouldn't be any Orks this time around.
-
huehuehue good lukk wiff dat
The rest of the ship seemed calm, contrasting with the Ork's loud demeanor. But the calm was... well, too calm. Something eerie was about.
