[Bungie Replied (sort of)]
So I would like to make a request to Bungie to please be specific and explicit to the community about what to expect will be available to players on Last-Gen after the Rise of Iron DLC is released. This includes aspects of the game that are shared on all systems currently, regardless of DLC. This has been different in past DLCs, with some content being made available to vanilla, whereas things changed drastically with TTK.
Please mention what happens to: (items in bold have been answered):
Daily Heroics - Answer: staying
Weekly Heroics - Answer: staying
Crucible playlists - Answer: staying, other than IB and ToO
Vendor gear
Upgrade Materials (ie is there some new and unique material from Plaguelands needed for upgrading weapons?) - Partial Answer, on IGN Fireteam Chat Podcast ep. 73, Scott Taylor from Bungie stated there is no new material in the Plaguelands playable area, only spinmetal.
Currencies (ie new currency replaces vanguard/legendary marks, that is only available in Rise of Iron content?)
Random patrol events (Taken corrupting, Pack of Wolves,....) - Partial Answer, all indications are it will remain as in TTK
Light level cap - Partial Answer, all indications are it will remain as in TTK (335)
XP Level cap - Answered?, again in Fireteam chat ep 74, Bungie mentioned no XP level increase for ROI (max 40)
Nightfall - Answer: Staying, possibly different than current gen playlist
Iron Banner - Answer: NO IRON BANNER on Last gen
Trials of Osiris - Answer: NO TRIALS on Last gen
Infusion of "yr 2" gear
Faction ranks/reward packages
Challenge of Elders - Answer: Staying, all levels 28,32,34,35,41,COE
Raids - Answer: Staying
What does Xur sell? - Answer: Exotic engrams only, both yr2 and yr1 engrams
Will the game community be "forked" for the Last Gen players to continue on with TTK as is? Or will we get the same patches, updates, balances, special events, weekly events?
Answer: Special events e.g. SRL, future updates will not be on Last Gen
What is the EOL for the game servers provided by Destiny for hosting character data, networking and matchmaking functions for Last Gen?
Please sign if you want to know.
Edit 1: thanks for good discussion. I know that last gen is being left behind, but there are vast gray areas about what that means is still in the game for us. Just want Bungie to address this at some point soon.
Edit 2: 25/6/2016 - Bungie has posted an update about their Legacy Console Guided Support as they call it, for last gen after the "fork". They have specified a number of specific content that will not be available to last gen. I have no idea, if anyone @Bungie has read this post, but it is good to know they are listening. I want to thank them for posting that information

Bungie must have heard our requests! Thank you! So they have recently posted details on some content changes that will be coming on the support pages. Legacy Consoles and Destiny Events and Activities Availability I have been updating some of my questions in the OP, to reflect the recent information. I am very happy to see Bungie giving us this detail. And to all you people who for some reason didn't like me asking the questions, I salute you for being so wrong and wasting your time denying something Bungie apparently knew needed to be done. Most things appear to be remaining for Last Gen after ROI. The major things that will be going away: - Iron Banner not on last gen - Trials of Osiris not on last gen - Xûr only selling yr2/yr1 exotic engrams for last gen So work on those IB gear and ToO emblems while you still can!

I fully expect Legacy gamers to be frozen in time at TTK content.
-
TBH I'd expect about the same as people who didn't purchase TTK. Stuck at a light level and I don't think they can do any nightfalls or any updated content....not that nightfalls are worth anything ATM.
-
No one cares, last gen support should have ended some time ago. Thats what happens with technology, last gen is outdated and no longer supported. Get over it, get a job, get a current gen system and stop complaining.
-
Conversely, I wonder what they're doing with PS4 Neo.
-
Well I'm an Xbox one player so no worries
-
I imagine they'll save it for later.
-
Nothing,you get nothinnng
-
If Bungie is going to ditch last-gen consoles. Could they at least give us some of the TTK PSE exotics weapons and legendary gear?
-
I think it is not the problem in next gen. Maybe in future but for now its ok. Why now? Maybe to keep players occupied with shit talking? Wars between consoles (last/new gen)? Why not talking about how much content is there in next dlc? Is it worth the money? Is it new created dlc or just same old reskined bs? There is something weird goong on about this...
-
I would say to you to think about Assassins Creed 3 to black flag. last gen got a really bad re-skined version of AC3 called Rouge. Then they dropped last gen completely.
-

I hope they put a Contra mode in, maybe even some Pac-Man. Face it, your console is out dated. You had to know this day would come, nothing last forever. I still have every game system ive ever had. Some are connected and some are just in boxes. Life moves forward. We change the way we dress, foods that we eat, our speech and even technology. People dont wear slacks and dress shirt to mow the lawn, most people dont eat Spam anymore (if ever, yuk!), and people dont say things like "dude" or "rad". Tube T.V.s arent used much nor are flip phones. You dont see many Yugos or Geos around and you certainly dont ride around on your tricycle anymore. Its time to let go of the past.
-
I play on Xbox one but I think from a consumer standpoint these are valid concerns. When the Taken King came out (if I remember correctly) the folks that did not "upgrade" to the new content were locked out of a lot of things including the Nightfalls and strikes. I am curious how that will be handled this time around or if the game has to be shelved at that point.

Edited by sundance: 6/12/2016 3:59:43 AMRead xp level cap as xp level crap and light level cap as light level crap
-
My guess is it will be sorts like gta5 on last gen.
-
Treyarch killed bo3 on old gen fast get over it man old gen is old
-
the italian player of ps3 have made a petition for the new dlc "rise of iron" for also for PS3 and Xbox 360. please firm anda save the year 3 for old gen!!!!! link https://www.change.org/p/https-www-bungie-net-dlc-destiny-rise-of-iron-anche-per-console-old-generation-ps3-xbox360
-
Answer this: How many developers are STILL producing games for PS3/360 that are made for PS4/XBONE?
-
Likely nothing will change. Current gen players have a few months ahead of us of the same content we have now, grinding for crucible packages, etc. Last gen has a few years of it.
-
If you watched the stream then you should have seen the branching out for old and current consoles. The old ones will have a new branch and servers that will be same as current, there will be no update to the same core as RoI and there will probably be no more updates/event either. Wonder how much laggy it will become with just a minimal server network :P The new ones will have separate branch with the new RoI core and support and most of the servers.
-
My guess is that it's going to split completley. Nothing in roi will affect anything in the legacy versions. Life will carry on for legacy consoles as usual. I'm sure there will be patches, and maybe they will continue doing live events, possibly open up the remaining strikes that aren't available, and maybe the old raids as well, but I think you can expect pretty much the same thing you play right now.
-
They'll reveal more over the summer. Learn some patience They can only cram so much info into a stream or weekly update.
-
Well they might keep it as it is right now. The levels will be different between consoles. This leads me to believe that the legacy consoles will not be affected by the new dlc.
-
Isn't it just a little funny that bungie decided to use THAT term. After the update Ps3 and 360 are going to 'fork off'. :-D
