His search for food led him to the remains of what appeared to be a battle, two sides one extremely militaristic the other was like something out of a metal band. He picked through the more normal looking group as he searched for rations. It appeared that these men used laser based weaponry, with differing charges. He found bland tasting nutritional pastes and supplements. He ate one tube and stowed a good deal more with his kit. He then picked over the caucuses of the creepy metal band. He found little he wanted, he did take some of their ammunition, gunpowder based he could manufacture ammunition to his own needs with it. These crude rounds would lack some of the punch but would not waste the precious heavy hitting bullets.
A quick rest and he was back in action, his path led him to a door, four men had stood guard in the past but were dead, two were from each faction, a DMZ perhaps. At any rate he had to press onward, if he were going to find some place to holdup. This area would probably be the site of another battle. He pressed through the door, weapon ready, and scanning his path.

"You know wandering alone is an easy way to get killed." A voice says.
-
"Not if you know how to survive." Retorted Blackburn cocking his rifle. "And sneaking up on me isn't a good way to stay alive."
-
"Trying to shoot me isn't a good way to stay alive." The voice says.
-
"Neither is threatening me. But I don't need a gun to kill, especially a disembodied voice, you're hiding, which means you're killable."
-
"Mm... Not hiding, behind you. Besides I'm not threatening you I was just stating it." Behind him was a man, standing in a metal combat suit, leaning against a wall.
-
The marine wore a combat suit o his own, albeit of a different design. He faced the man speaking. "Doesn't matter if you were or not, a perceived threat is still a threat. Albeit an unintentional one. What is it you want?"
-
*A figure walks up next to you* Not a bad war really, don't you agree?
-
"Peace is preferred, though I'm not sure what war you're talking about."
-
I'm talking about this battle. Sorry, my brain has recently been stuck on war

Bump cause f you.

Up ahead of you, a worn combat knife is stuck into the deck plating. 30cm of straight silver.
-
Blackborn took a step forward and scanned the hall for hostiles. He ran numerous simulations in his head to see what the likely outcome of him examining the knife was. He concluded that he could safely do so, and stepped forward and took it from the deck, his own bioengineered strength and the strength of his Exosuit made it easy.

You recognize the worn knife. You remember from somewhere that an imperial guard regiment of the most highly decorated stealth commandos carry blades like this. You look at the straight silver.... It's Tannith. You find yourself surrounded by 7 men that you didn't notice before. 7 ghosts. Each man is covered by camouflage that blends in perfectly to its surroundings. They all sport long camo cloaks that are slung back to one shoulder, and they all have las rifles shouldered, aiming at you. Each man has dirt smeared into his clothes, skin, and hair - but their white eyes glare into yours with the cold intensity that only comes from a battle hardened veterans. You realize that the men before you have been to hell and back. An 8th man steps out from the shadows, tall and powerfully built, his gaunt face obscured by shadows. You notice an ornate power sword in his hands, resonating with blue energy. "You're surrounded, drop your weapons." Says the man in a tone suggesting authority but no desire to do harm.
-
He lowered his weapons but maintained positive control o his weapon. "Best you're going to get. I take it this belongs to one of you?" He said offering the knife.
-
You see this man's rank pins clearly now... Colonel-Commissar.
code word is Silver, know it so that this doesn't get ugly. The trouble with using actual warhammer characters is their reputation. Gaunt would disarm you and your men and shit would go downhill from there.
The man's body language is unreadable, but your trained eye noticed a slight shift in the posture of the ghosts before you. Violence is imminent.
Ibram Gaunt...

its only the one guy.
The super soldier seemed unimpressed, his Exosuit configured itself to defensive mode, nonlethal. "Let's all just settle down here before someone gets hurt. I've done the math and I'm not stupid enough to try anything."
