I honestly believe the game rewards some players over others. Looking through the forums you'll find those--like us--complaining that we can't get an exotic drop, while others are complaining of getting too many exotics of one type. I also can't seem to get a legendary gauntlet drop--at all. That's not random, or at least if it is, it's so improbable as to make me an outlyer.
