"They are not people. They are suits. I merge with them, swap bodies, in sorts."
English
-
Oh. Well, Mion isn't exactly a human, he's a cat with wings, and Cross is skeletal.
-
"The only people I really keep close to me are my three daughters."
-
Well, you're lucky. I never had the joy of a family. My mother was slaughtered by my father And my father was killed by me and the Deity
-
"I wouldn't exactly call it joy. More like tragedy."
-
Looks like we all have different views
-
"It isn't a matter of views. It's a matter of history. I don't know yours, neither do you know mine."
-
fair, fair. But I am a little interested in yours... *Mortar sits on a ledge* Can you explain a little?
-
"I am not sure. It is quite a lengthy tale. Perhaps I can tell it to you on the way to my suits."
-
Alright. *Mortar jumps off the ledge and when you look over, you see him on the ground unscathed* Let's go.
-
Kor'El jumps down, causing the pavement to shatter underneath him in a cloud of dust. He gets up, unscathed. "Good heavens, where to begin..."
-
I'd assume the beginning would be good. *He starts walking towards the where the lightning was*
-
"I suppose so. Let's see... I was born a part of the Tau Fal'Shia Sept. From birth, I was destined to become a commander of the Tau fire caste of our Sept. In my species, choice isn't ours. We are assigned a destiny that will serve the greater good."
-
Sounds like Communism from Earth, continue.
-
"I was raised, indoctrinated, to become the fiercest warrior in our Sept. I excelled at leadership, but something unique came of me. On one of my missions, I had found a book, from earth. I had to learn english to understand it, it was an old book. With the help of the Infiltration units, they taught me the language of the enemy. It was titled 'Mark Twain's fables of Man.' From it, I learned a great deal about something that was strange to me. Freedom. I learned that A man chooses, and a Slave Obeys. That the right to choose, the right to question ourselves was the basis for a life of plentitude. I kept learning as much as I could from wherever I could about this freedom. It interested me a great deal."
-
Yes, I have read that book, it was a good one. Of course, I read it after I got MY freedom... *Mortar is silent a moment* Please, continue
-
"Eventually, after many successful campaigns, came the disaster. It was the Kaurava system conquest. We... lost that war. We were driven from the system in defeat. Upon my return home, I had found something dire. My mother, father and sister had been killed by the Ethereals. I barely had time to flee. I stayed on board my capital ship, grabbed as much loyal troops and equipment as I could and fled."
-
*Mortar nods, thinking of something as you are speaking* That sounds awful. Please, continue.
-
"We escaped the Tau Empire. We moved from planet to planet, sector to sector. All the way until we reached Terra. At first, they were reluctant to have us there, seeing as we are aliens. But soon enough we proved ourselves in the eyes of the Imperium. We were allowed the construction of a base on the moon. We had ridden ourselves of the empire. We had become the Terr'an Sept. We would defend our new home against whatever would come. That is when my first daughter was born. Mir'ika."
-
Well... Seems like you've had an interesting backstory, I don't think I've lived on a moon before, I mean, a very hellish place, yes, but...
-
"all was going well. Eventually, my Tau lover was killed in action. My daughter was still so very young. We Tau age at a slower rate than humans. Erm... something very complicated then happened. I would prefer not to go too much into details about it, but I fell in love with a human woman. We had a child together. We named her after her human grandmother, Amy."
-
Edited by BrandRobKus: 5/30/2016 9:52:48 PMHumans certainly aren't bad, I think my Mother was part Human... Not important, please continue. *Mortar begins jotting something down on a note pad*
-
"What is it that you're writing?"
-
Oh, just a brief description of you, your backstory, etc. I've been trying to find out a pattern with many people here, it seems like a lot of people here have or had a major importance, and almost all here have lost their memory on how they got here. I mean, I know how I got here, a problem with a portal, but it seems like something, or someone, is tampering with these people's memories.
-
"I see. Anyway, where was I? Oh, I remember. Yes, I had my daughter, Amy. Because the human I had married was... different, she had strange abilities, even as a baby. All was going well for me. Until the Harbinger invaded Terra. A mad warlord that believed he was the balance in the universe. Skirmishes raged, and we fought. Until I battled him man to man, to buy time for my allies. He... killed me. I activated my suit's overload while I held him in a chokehold. I was damaged beyond repair. This was my final action against him. Then... I died."

Ah, the death, the one part of the war where you are released from your duties
