Shadestep/smoke tweaks/equality

As a kindof table of contents the first part is why i believe should be changed and the second part is some ideas of what should be done to address them So ive recently been more upset with the near invincibility that hunters usually have in shadestep. The other day i was on my striker titan and fist of havoc'd (i dont think havoc'd is right but whatever) a hunter and they completely avoided it by just shadestepping into me. So this got me thinking about changes to be made about some of the BS things in this game mainly those smoke and shadestep and i have some small thoughts that i think could make a big difference. First off I would like to to ask a half rhetorical question, half legitimate question and that is what is the basic objective of shadestep? In my eyes there are two ideas and they are (A) to provide an near invincible mode of transportation very quickly (much like y1 blink) or (B) is it a higher skill cap form of illusion meant to be a quick blitz/escape/multi tool. The reason i ask this is because there is not much invivibility in the gamewith the exception of the beginning of a rez in 3v3's (as to help with rez sniping). And before you start railing on me saying "but you can get killed in shade step, it happend to me just today/yesterday/whenever!" It is no secret, and you should know this, that it is near impossible to kill a shadestepping hunter Ex. My fist of havoc counter. As for smoke i just that you can throw a grenade at someones feet and it will kill them sometimes for you, sometimes with a bullet or two but. And yes many other grenades can do alot and are more or less controvercial (ive definately heard arguements about lighting grenades firebolt grenades fusion grenades and a very very small amount of talk towards scatters) but the difference is mobility. Obviosly as you all know destiny is a very movement oriented game and to essentially make someone stop dead in there tracks when you know just where they are is a death sentance even without the toxic effect of voidwall/vortex grenade. This has obviosly killed me on numerous equations simply because there is nothing i can do to help myself. Now i hope you have not clicked away or lost interest because now is a more positive section in my oppinion and im going to organize my thoughts in a more bullet point kind of fashion. DISCLAIMER im not a dev i dont know how everything would change if any/all of these ideas were implamented but they are simply ideas that come to mind when thinking of proper BALANCES not just nerfs, also some of these definately work together with eachother more than others and kind of complete eachother while if standing alone would either make them even worse or just plain useless so try to read them in context with one another and in good combos first off, SHADESTEP 1) remove invicibility completely from the shadestep and keep your character in a roll 2)increase frames between 1st person and 3rd person as to not create as much as a birds eye view 3)make the cloud of dissorienting smoke much larger and harder to see through 4)provide the smoke much more initial smoke to attempt to disable the enemy from locating where the shadestepper is going. 5) if shadestep is kept exactly the same put the shadestepper into first person 6)add frames in between the shadestep and the weapon draw much like blink as to not allow you to kill someone immediately out of invicibility 7!!!) For the love of god remove the invincibility that is granted by this move Smoke 1) make the clound much bigger and more effective 2)Greatly reduce the suppression of movement 3)reduce the smoked persons vision to that of a black cloud(almost nothing unless clearly right in front) 4)in conjunction with many of the other changes allow the smoker to see the smoked person clearly and not nearly the other way arround kind of like a 1 way mirror 5) slightly increase the time inbetween smoke throw and grenade that way you can not as easily get the easy "wombo combo" These are some of the changes that came to mind and obviosly many may be bad and i dont have all the answers, im just trying to remove crutches from the game that i feel have no room in destiny *coughcough* heavy ammo so go ahead and comment any and all ideas that you have! Make destiny great again! Lol OK I UNDERSTAND THAT IT DOESNT PROVIDE INVINCIBILITY try to look at it from a perspective of making it different though not nerfing it

  • BS on shadesteping out of FoH. you probably just missed. dhadestep is by no means OP. all it does is take away the AA of your opponents guns. you can still get shot and will take dmg if your opponent is slightly above average player. guns like hawksaw and DoP will aleays dmg shadestep. its harder to hit with HC but thats where it ends. Smoke grenade is awesome and really good. if you take that away what else is left? super is by far the worst in the game and the notmal grenades are really bad ^^ + wombo combo requires 2 cooldowns
