Other guardians spoke his name in hushed whispers, fearful of the wrath that would be brought down upon them. It all started on a routine patrol outside the City. He and his squad were tasked with reconning Eliksni activity, specifically the House of Kings, and as is standard were engaged some three kilometres into their route. A Captain, three Vandals and several Dregs; mere cannon fodder for him and his well-trained troops. Variks had programmed me to translate Eliksni, as it would allow me to overhear and relay back any communication giving us a tactical or strategic edge. Except on this patrol what the Captain said in his dying moments would resonate with my Guardian. "The Traveller... is an abomination obsessed with war and death. We were once peaceful, industrious and aspirational; this thing, this sphere, turned us into bloodthirsty monsters. Don't let it do the same to you!". Not to mention Variks' passing comment that dying Eliksni never lie or manipulate. My guardian's troop finished the patrol as ordered and returned to the tower... only to find hundreds of eyes staring at them with what can be described as ranging from contempt to disgust and even downright hatred. They knew what happened out in the snow, that he had his doubts for a long time and they were finally confirmed. He grabbed his ship and ran. He tried to skip the system but was stopped by the Queen's forces, who had obviously been told that he was going to go interstellar and that I had to be stopped at any cost. He tried to evade their ships to no avail. This was it; he had to reason his way out or die trying. He called out to the fleet closing in on us that the Traveller and its minions were not to be trusted. Again, to no avail... to his ultimate cost.
