Guardian Legends: The Dawn Breaker pt. 4
Here, I tell the untold stories of legends amongst us, and within us. Some paved the way for our future. While others went beyond the impossible. Tell me, will you become legend?
Lauren pulled her hands from Dillon's shoulders. The void forming the ward was slowly drawn into Dillon, and the ice buildup only increased. "This is different." Said Dillon. "I feel.. powerful. The void is flowing within me. Is this what it is like to be a voidwalker?" Dillon continued to draw the ward into him. "Dillon, you have enough void to throw three nova bombs... Try to be careful." Lauren watched Dillon try to control the void. "I'm losing strength." Dillon fell to one knee. "I can't... I can't hold the ward for... I've lost all feeling!" A large burst of void energy and radiated through the ward! Dillon was woken up from rain hitting his face. He sat up and looked around. "What the h*** happened?" The walls of the house were blown out and the roof was broken into many pieces. The light shower kept dust from filling the air. Dillon looked around. "Lauren? Lauren?!" A pile of debris in the corner shifted slightly. Dillon got up and moved over the concrete. "Lauren! Are you okay?" Lauren tilted her head up. She wiped blood off of her forehead then sat up. "Dillon, what the h***?" "Are you okay or not?" Asked Dillon as he helped Lauren up. "So, what happened?" Asked Lauren after dusting off her armor. "Well, like you said. I couldn't hold all that void and the excess turned a ward of dawn... into a stationary fist of havoc." "I take it, you don't want to try it again?..." Asked Lauren. "I guess we should be more careful next time." Dillon placed his hands on his waist. "I'm going to have to build this poor house twice, now." "We did it together the first time. Nothing has to change this time." Lauren gave Dillon a kiss. A severe thunder storm loomed over the City. With no roof on their house, Dillon and Lauren were forced to return to the refugee camps. Lauren sat beside Dillon as he stirred the fire and causing sparks to fly into the humid air. "So, what happened? What did we learn from our tests?" She asked. "Well, you gave me enough void to power the ward. The only thing is, you gave me enough void to equal to a nova bomb. That void has to go somewhere, so it went out, through the ward." Answered Dillon. "Want to try it again?" Asked Lauren. "Who's making the house payments here?" Asked Dillon in return. The couple was nailing up a new wall to their house when sirens echoed in the air. Dillon and Lauren looked around frantically to see what was the situation, but they knew what that siren meant. "Dillon?" Asked Lauren. "Let's go!" He yelled as he picked up his helmet. The two ran up to the front gates of the wall. More refugees had arrived, but so did Fallen. Pikes circled the large group of people. "Cover them! Cover them!" Yelled a titan. "Take 'em down! Take 'em down!" Yelled another titan that shot down a pike. The debris exploded and tumbled through the dirt. "Deploying ward!" Cried a titan. In the distance, Dillon saw silhouettes through the kicked up dust. They were people, more refugees. "Captain! We have more people coming behind the Fallen!" He yelled. Two guardians, a hunter and a huntress, pushed through the dust as they shot the Fallen. As one hunter reloaded his hand cannon, his partner was covering him. Because of them, the wall of Fallen was divided and weakened. "These are the last-" The hunter ducked as an explosion kicked dust into him. "These are the last group of refugees from the European Dead Zone!" Lauren looked at the group. "When was the last time you did a head count?" "About two klicks south." Said the huntress as she pointed to where they came. "Two hundred and thirty-one people." Dillon ran off. "We'll cover you! You make sure everyone is here!" "Got it." The hunter nodded. He and the huntress began counting. Defenders are measured by his courage, not his ward. Keep fighting, Guardians
