With the leaked image we all are geeking out about flying around in our minds of the next Destiny expansion, something came to mind as I looked at it. There are wolves beside Saladin.
Now granted this might just be for imagery reasons but lets actually contimplate a possibility of pets that come into battle against the darkness with our guardians.
Think about it, a wolf at each guardians side. Summoning just like our sparrows into battle ready to fight alongside you. I think it would be kind of cool. If pets were to make their way into Destiny do you think it would work and if so how would you like them to work?

The wolves are there to represent the iron wolves, aka the people who started iron banner (maybe not started, I know there were two groups of people). This dlc will obviously focus on iron banner (maybe just saladin), but I feel like if it does focus heavily on IB it will be bad, as IB is one of the worst things in the game right now.
Topped only by all of PvE ;)
No. What are you, 12?
-
I think they should only be pve cause playing smite after skadi released shows how annoying pvp pets would be
-
As long as I get a shark with a laser beam on its head.
-
Warframe?

You could get yellow ammo and each shot allowed your pet to be out for 5 seconds. If you could have it all the time it would be too op. I like the idea of having them pick up ammo and engrams for you. If you could pick up ammo for your sparrow and it had guns that would he cool too.

Every guardian gets a pet hamster called hammy, every so often hammy escapes from your pocket, even mid raid, everyone stops what they're doing, even enemies, to help find hammy and save him from whatever mildly perilous situation he's got himself in to, once found everyone laughs and joins in a chorus of 'oh hammy'. Then the fight restarts and everyone goes back to kicking the crap out of each other.
-
Sure, as long as I can dismantle them for glimmer, marks, or components to increase my faction reps when I want to, I'm all for it.
-
I wonder if we can have a Goliath Tank as pet... hmm...
-
How about companions as drop fetchers. They could pick up ammo and engrams with a certain radius. Susceptible to damage. They would also do finisher damage to blinded enemies.
-
From here on I will be referring to my pets IRL as my battle companions. Thank you.
-
That would be cool. But they'd probably make us buy them with silver. And not everyone can buy a ton of silver to just buy pets in destiny.
-
If they put pets in the game my life would be complete
-
They'd probably nerf weapon damage to compensate
-
I'd prefer cosmetic pets. Combat pets sound like the reason every gun would receive a 50% damage nerf in PvE to compensate for PvP queers.
-
Nah. Sounds as lame as wow companions. I mean if that's what people, want go for it, but I couldn't care less.
-
Protect your wolves from the hunters
-
My Ghost suits me just fine.
-
No. Go be a bundle of sticks on some Web browser flash game.

-
As long as I can Nova bomb the shit out of a wolf in crucible.
-
Um ghost?

Edited by Swiftlock: 5/21/2016 5:43:10 AMPvE (sans raids) basically boils down to slaughtering mobs until you can advance to the next area where you slaughter more mobs, with the occasional object that you need to scan or boss fight here and there. You keep slaughtering mobs to find equipment that will let you slaughter tougher mobs. That's about it. Pets wouldn't really add a new dimension to the game. They'd only serve a primarily cosmetic purpose while perhaps improving an attribute like our damage output/defense/radar etc. Not terribly exciting. And you can forget seeing these things in PvP. Bungie can't even balance a shotgun properly. I don't want to imagine the nightmare that trying to balance pets would cause. If pets were to become a thing, they'd need more utility and things we can do with them aside from reducing them to arm candy and a stat boost. Companions should flesh out the experience. Right now, they would just be trivial.

Played through Far Cry Primal not long ago, which is all about the pets. They're cool and all, but there's nothing worse than when they mess up your tactics - blowing ambushes by rushing in, blowing stealthy attacks by rushing in, blowing avoiding fights with large predators by rushing in, needing help at the worst possible times etc. So I'm not keen - but I'll keep an open mind.
