Arcblade vs Hammer of Sol?

(Let me highlight that [u][b]this is not a nerf post![/b][/u]) Can we talk about damage comparisons between Arcblade and Hammer of Sol? Hammer of Sol with kill any roaming super with [u]one direct hit[/u], from all but the furthest of ranges. Arcblade will only kill a roaming super with [u]2 direct hits[/u] from very close range. Because of this, if a Hammer of Sol and an Arcblade go head to head, the Hammer of Sol will [i]always win[/i] (excluding exceptional circumstances). The Arcblade will be dead before it can close the gap to actually attempt to kill the Hammer of Sol, as they basically throw minor, mini Nova Bombs at opponents. Even if the Arcblade does close the gap and gets to within damaging distance, the Hammer of Sol can simply throw a hammer at its feet and kill the Arcblade in one shot before it can land that second killing swipe. I'm not claiming Hammer of Sol to be overpowered or that Arcblade is underpowered, because that's simply not true. I'm just saying the [i]equity of the damage [/i]of the two supers is off, and deeply in Hammer of Sol's favour. If I had to think of a solution I'd suggest making the damage equal for HoS and Arcblade, increase Arcblade's damage to equal HoS's damage. It would make for a fairer fight between supers and improve the experience in general, at least from my perspective. But I'm not an expert in balancing so I can't really definitively give a fix. It's just an observation I've made over my time playing this amazing game. What do you think? Let me know in the comments!

  • Different supers do different things differently. Stop trying to make them "equal". Next the defender bubble will spawn mini nova bombs to anyone coming inside the bubble. Wait that actually would be pretty cool.

      • 1. Arcblade attacks cost way less energy 2. Acrblade attacks way faster 3. Arcblade can dash around to avoid the hammers because they are so slow

        • Hammer of Sol is like a rocket launcher. It's a one shot kill direct hit to roaming supers but that's just not gonna happen. It's got travel and trajectory to consider and each shot takes about 4 seconds. Blade dancer is like a machine gun, it's fast, direct hits are easier, the melee charge time isn't a problem. You just gotta know where to aim and when to strike or you'll get focused on first. Moral of the story, WAIT FOR HAMMER OF SOL TO WASTE HIS HAMMER AND KILL HIM IN THE RELOAD FROM BEHIND DUMBASS!

          • I use to think the same thing. But then I realised most HoS users are trash and can't aim for shit so jst jump around them. Had a match the other day on pantheon I killed two HoS with my god damn melee attack. Was kind of sad

            • Hammers lose to Arcblade most of the time. If you miss or even get a 95% direct hit they will live and kill you before you can throw another hammer.

            • If you think about it, the DPS averages out between the two. HoS has a slow recovery time between strikes, whereas Arcblade has an extremely quick strike/recovery.

            • Hammer vs super 2 hits near 1 hit body Bladedancer Practically all, excluding GG, 2 hits

            • Hammer 2 shots most about every super if you are throwing hammers (including arcblade) and only with suncharge will it 1 shot.

              • Arc Blade needs a damage buff, like a massive one. Double it. And buff both of these durations.

                  Everything takes 2 hammers unless you suncharge. I haven't gotten a 1 HKO since they broke the subclass.

                    Arc blade should be a one hit and done kill on any character in the crucible period. As far as countering another super, it can be done. Equip invisibility on your are blade tree and sneak up behind the hammer time and boom boom, dead.

                    • Blade dancer can shoot the wave at them so they do have a ranged attack granted it eats a lot of the super bar to use it.

                      • Everyone keeps saying HoS 1 shots any roaming super but after its nerf I have yet to see it. Unless I use sun charge. I'm 2 tapping blade dancers, storm callers, other sunbreakers, anything that isnt gg. Unless they have no armor then I 1 shot. O-o does that make me unlucky?

                        • That's like saying the rock should get spikes so it can defeat paper. If a rock wanted to fight paper it would need to get scissors on it's side. For the same reason I don't think you should be fighting against a Sunbreaker as a Bladedancer, you should probably think about using Gunslinger in that fight. The various supers have various strengths in various ways. They aren't equal, which is what makes them special.

                        • I feel like everyone else's hammers are better than mine. For me I have to throw 2 hammers at a blade dancer, and 3 at a stormcaller. But whenever I'm a bladedancer or stormcaller (both with max armor and chestpiece for increased armor) I get killed by 1 hammer.

                          • I think it's balanced. For PvE... arcblade needs a dmg buff. Not for pvp because it's already easy for BDs to get right on top of someone. And defenders would never stand a chance, even with AoL.

                          • Nova Bomb and Fist of Havoc should so the most damage because they're single use abilities. Golden Gun should be next because it only has 3 shots. Shadowshot should do almost as much as Golden Gun, but a bit less since it has the suppressor effect. Hammer of Sol and Arc Blade should be equal. They should do less than Shadow Shot because they can be spammed, but still be one-hit because they're supers. Stormtrance should do less than Arc Blade because of it's duration and the fact that it is supposed to do ticks of damage, not insta-kill. Ward of Dawn should repel all enemies within its radius upon activation. If they hit a wall and die, give the kill to the Defender who popped the super.

                          • When i hear a sunbro pop his super, i pop my arcblade, use the perk to go invis and then i sneak up on him and when am close enough i blink directly at him, swipe 2 times and blink backward

                          • Rock paper scissor was the idea between the newest subclasses. I don't think the others were thought about during this so there are some imbalances but in all I'd say it's pretty fair. If Hammers has you mad just take them away with void bow..lol
