I'm dying to play a game I can create my own character in, but I feel like I've played games like Skyrim and Mass Effect too recently to want to play them again.
So, I already own DA:I. I got it on sale. I played it for a little while and... well, even though I was and will play it for the story, the combat has to be at least bearable. But I found it to be so so so so SO boring. I can't emphasize enough how boring I thought the combat was. And the third-person view is a little too zoomed out for me, which makes it feel a little impersonal.
Please convince me to play this so I can play a game I can make my own character in. Convince me that I can push through it ;-;

1.) good gameplay 2.) good story 3.) symbolism and meaning 4.) character progression 5.) won GOTY 6.) boobs 7.) mod compatible(PC) 8.) ok multiplayer(but it has one) 9.) replay-able 10.) overall fun game/addicting.

Don't. Pray to god that Da Origins becomes compatible. I will scream whenever/if it does
-
Get another title
-
Sorry, I cannot. I couldn't stomach the combat either. It's like this odd mix of DA:O and hack n slash.
-
I personally like playing the game online, but not a lot of people play it online anymore, it would seem like a fun game to play with friends
-
I couldn't play it either. The combat felt so awful.
-
Why are so many people ripping on Dragon Age? ;-; It's a lovely series, the setting is interesting and the characters are, for the most part, very fun to interact with. I get that the combat isn't like anything else popular on the console market right now, but I always felt like it's sort of a nice break from the norm with its attempts at promoting tactical game play over straight out hack and slash. In fact, I actually preferred the slower and less flashy combat of Origins.
-
Sorry nothing I can say. I also have Dragon:Age and had the exact same problems you do. I just ended up buying Dark Souls:3 and enjoying that a hell of a lot more than Dragon: Age :/ Might play it someday when I'm really bored or something...
-
I wouldn't recommend it then, all things considered. Wouldn't fit in too well with what you seem to be searching for.
-
I personally enjoyed the strategy aspect of the game. If you only play yourself you are playing the game wrong. VERY VERY WRONG. The strategy mode is great for set ups and whenever there is a hitch or specific enemy of value then you manually control for certain spells or attacks. I remember my protagonist was the aggro tank. The bull guy my damage dealer while i aggro I have the elf Mage for Heals and Rift Mage CC/debuffs Vivienne for heals and CQC magic The game gets FUN when you unlock the later skill trees half way through the game. Those skill trees half way through the game were worth the time. The best part was the story. Even lots of funny diologue between fights or when you reach places of value. Lots of talking for both comedy relief and lore. I wish I played the previous ones :/
-
The combat doesn't get better and i did not like the story. The characters are great though. If you want to keep things interesting, spend some time playing as your allies instead of your main character.
-
You definitely might be able to do it!
-
I won't. Because Inquisition isn't that good. Play Origins instead.
-
I feel the same way about Child of Light. It's such a beautiful and interesting game, but the combat is so boring. It disappoints me. ):
-
Play it.

This has to be the best presented Dragon Age man. It's worth a playthrough. It won GOTY for 2014. It adds so much to the series. It has so much more content than DA: Origins. Hell, The Emerald Graves exploration map is as big as the original -blam!-ing Dragon Age: Origins GAME itself! there are so many side quests it's insane. If you've played the others you'd know that the combat is probably the best unless you liked the style of Dragon Age 2's combat more. It's open world unlike the other Dragon Age games. It has much more depth and lore. There's a crafting system unlike the others. It has the most dialogue, it has the best dragon fights, it has the best loot, it has the best graphics. IT has so much. The most amount of content and replayability to any Dragon Age. If you've played the others then you'd LOVE the multiple tips of the hat to the previous games within this one. PLUS the amount of DLC expansions is also the most of any dragon age. This game has so much content in it, it's practically overflowing. This is worth every penny if you even remotely like Dragon Age. It's -blam!-ing awesome. PLEASE play this. You're doing yourself wrong if you deprive yourself of this -blam!-ing awesome game

I couldn't force myself to play through it, there is no way I could convince you to.

Play sunset overdrive dragon age is boring as hell

Edited by Pheint3d: 5/19/2016 6:32:41 PMI know the feeling. I can't believe I got it at full retail price. I did play the multiplayer for awhile though, but even that felt pretty boring shortly after. Idk, you probably need a diff game. I also like making my own chatacter as well, but I myself don't know of any games out right now that have all the stuff you'd want in it. I'd probably be playing it too. I happened to read your replies to others and noticed you played as an archer. Which I did as well at first. VERY BORING class. Try the more up close melee classes or classes with cool abilities and skills if you're going to give it another go. It won't transform the game into super crisp gameplay, but it definitely makes a huge difference from standing back with an archer. At the very least, try that.

It fun
-
Don't play it. It's boring. Play Fallout instead if you want to customize your character.
-
Don't tell me how to live my life
-
It is boring. Got a deep combat system, tons of customization, decent story, good graphics, open world.... But gameplay is boring. If you judge a game solely based on raw fun, you simply won't like it.
-
Convince yourself...if you don't like the game then don't play it. Simple as that
