Since it's the end of the school year everyone is starting to pick what classes they want to have for the next year. I've always been big into computers from building them to programming them. I'm not very good at programming computers so when I saw the class in the booklet full of classes I could take, I wrote it down. I read further after the first sentence and it was perfect until I got to the bottom. It said,
This class is only offered to females
What? Why is this even a thing? What's the logic behind making a computer programming class female only? I'm confused as to why this isn't deemed as discrimination and is seen as socially acceptable.
Edit: I did ask why and they said they wanted to "steer women into the field by offering a class with others of the same gender to make them more comfortable" or some stupid reason like that. It still doesn't justify why they didn't also make a class for males.

If I'm not mistaken, Anomoly had a comment which must've been removed? I forgot they completely remove comments that violate CoC now.

Edited by Princess Anomaly: 6/17/2016 2:27:42 PMThere's probably a valid reason for it. Maybe ask the administration about their reasoning before whining about "reverse sexism" here

Edited by NIGHT LORD14: 5/18/2016 7:17:49 PMThe fact of the matter is that feminism is working, but in all the wrong ways. The goal of feminism was to create equality of opportunity for women, opportunity being the keyword. Third-wave feminism seems to want to push more toward what's called equality of outcome, meaning no matter how qualified a male applicant, the outcome should be a male/female of 50/50, of course if the outcome happens to have more women than men then hooray, yet another victory against the tyranny of the Patriarchy!

SJW's want equality in segregation.

Aaand this is why I consider not having children. The world is full of retarded pussies, I dont want my child being treated like breakable glass. Then go out to the world and see how harsh things can be. Everything is offensive Everything is racist, sexist or mean Everything is offensive in 2016

Sue them for inequality for men Manisim will rise against inequality

Show this website to any females who call you "sexist" for stupid reasons
-
It's sexism but people brush it off since it isn't against females. It's sad but true
-
What the actual -blam!-, they could get into legal trouble for that, if men can take it to court to be a cheerleader which an extra curricular, this could definitely go to court as its a class

Edited by U6757109: 5/17/2016 9:26:50 PMSexism at work. Liberalism is turning into something -blam!-ing stupid

So its ok for feminazis to whine about open classes which just happen to be majority male, but its bad for a guy to criticise that his tax dollars are being spent on a class he cant access because of his gender. Ok.

Edited by Jotaro Kujo PhD: 5/15/2016 4:02:14 PMIf there's no alternative for the class, the exclusion of men is blatantly sexist. I'd sign up anyway and challenge it.
-
Is there the same class also offered for guys?Cause if not then that's ridiculous.I get they want to encourage female participation in that sort of thing, but disallowing males is the dumbest idea and I don't see how it could possibly help.
-
OMG, you can't get into a class that's only for girls boo hooo. Honestly the school isn't doing a bad thing and you could easily get a class for males if enough of you are interested, otherwise it would be a waste of time.

There's no reason a ladies-only computer class should exist. Either your school is doing some real -blam!-ery, or you're making this up to play up the "oh, poor me" theme

It's just a fact that people are more comfortable when they're with others of the same sex. You wouldn't walk into a room full of girls and start talking about the chick you banged last night then start trying to high five them, would you? Probably not lol point is that for a field that is dominated by men it's generally more comfortable for the girls/women to be with others girls/women so they're not intimidated when asking questions. It won't always be that way, just until the work force in that area is more evened out.

You piss standing up or are you a squater?
-
Something about men having higher car insurance.
-
Well, the question in the OP is flawed, that is sexist, and I would suggest at the very least threatening legal action against your school.
-
That is actually sexism.
-
> Change it to:
> This class is only offered to males
> And everybody loses their minds!
-
Just tell them you identify as a female whenever you damn well please.
-
Just sign up for it. If they give a fight, threaten to report them to the media.
-
Get ahold of the ACLU if you really feel the school is overstepping here. There is some major bullshit going on in regards to STEM fields right now.
What? Why is this even a thing? What's the logic behind making a computer programming class female only? I'm confused as to why this isn't deemed as discrimination and is seen as socially acceptable.
What you'll probably find out is the Government wants to increase the amount of Women in this particular field. And the School can only afford to offer this program with a huge Government grant. So to ensure they meet the Governments quota for the grant they make it a female only class. It's frustrating, but there are other Schools out there.
