Something I noticed about Dragonsbreath + Airborne
For me, Dragonsbreath was the obvious choice for heavy in this week's CoE. The damage output is always amazing for bosses that stand in one place for more than a few seconds. Jump-firing Dragonsbreath with Airborne should be amazing, right?
It is. We killed Aru'un before his second shield while jump-firing 3 DB's. But I noticed something about the AoE damage while the bosses were standing in the fire, burning away.
Sure you get the Airborne bonus if it detonates while you're off the ground, but for max AoE damage, you need to stay in the air after detonation and while the AoE is active.
After detonation, damage from the Napalm effect was somewhere between 850-900dmg on bosses, I don't remember the exact number. Jumping while the boss was burning made the Airborne modifier proc, causing over 1700dmg. Each time I landed, damage went back down to the original number.
Maybe this is obvious to some people but this was something I just noticed out so I figured I would share. I thought any damage caused while Airborne was active would keep the modifier active for the duration of the event, however long it may be. This was not the case.
So if you're using DB to speed run for rep in this week's Challenge of the Elders, remember to keep off the ground for as long as possible to maximize the Napalm damage, as it changes even though you were Airborne when the damage event started.
Happy hunting! Good luck and I hope you get your Soulstealer, Hand or Aegis if that's what you're looking for. And the rolls! And... Ahhh who the hell am I kidding, RNGs a bitch. XD
TL;DR - keep jumping while Napalm is active to maximze your damage output.
P.S. - The only other exotic you need this week is Peregrine Greaves.
