If anyone ever played year 1, you will understand how godly it was to have an elemental primary. It made the Thorn exotic bounty a joke and made every burn modified nightfall your bitch. You would headshot a fallen enemy in the face with your Fatebringer and watch the other 5 around explode into arc matter.
In year 2, Bungie did away with elemental primaries. Why you might ask? Well because you only saw people using the Fatebringer and nothing else. It was enough to call itself an exotic. But I feel as though they could have kept it in.
How you ask? Simple my kinderguardian. You make RNG do its work. You must obtain an "element of light". This glowing shard is all it takes to give any primary whether it be exotic or legendary and give it an unlocked potential that only the weaponsmith could apply to your weapon.
The only way to obtain the Element of Light is to defeat Oryx hard mode (for future DLC it needs to be the Hard mode of the latest Raid) and it can drop on Oryx and it isn't a guaranteed drop. After you were blessed by the RNG god you head towards the tower and see your local gunsmith. You can turn this item in at any time of the week and will become available to mod into any weapon in your inventory on Armsday. On Armsday, the RNG-ESUS will take its toll again and randomly selected one of the 3 burns that you could apply. And yes this means there will be lots of hate.
What will be amazing about this though is that it's hard to obtain, you can use it on any primary weapons besides any primary exotics that already have a burn on them, and this means you can have a Suros Regime with any burn you want on it!
Guardians please leave any feedback you wish and bump this article so that Bungie can understand us PvE players that want to be gods once again.

Edited by SolarCerberuS: 5/11/2016 2:44:34 AMIf they did they would have to nerf or remove burns to offer any kind of challenge especially now that there are primary and special weapon burns. Imagine an elemental burn combined with primary weapon damage favoured? Any one would be able to solo it with eyes closed.

Nope. Nope. Nope. Absolutely not. Just because you people are lazy to do a strike or anything, doesn't mean the rest of us are. You know 98% of the community had no idea the Last Word, Mida and other legendary weapons were any good at all. Why do you think they brought those weapons back to year 2.... Shadow Price, Grim Citizen, Saterinne Rapier, Devil You Know, all amazing great powerful, even better then the Raid Burn Primary weapons. But did people use them? No. Because of ass clowns like this and second hand YouTubers saying that these weapons are OP an they don't need anything else. Devil You Know with Luck in the Chamber outclasses Fatebringer 9 times out of 10. No souls even used Shadow Price because if weapons like Abyss Defiant and Atheons Epilogue. So just like Bungie, -blam!- primary burn weapons, they can go to -blam!-ing hell and everyone who wants burn primary weapons can go cry in a corner.
-
You can buy an elemental dmg for ur primary for a nice low price of 200 Silver
-
I think they should bring back elemental primaries, but only for exotic primaries (every exotic primary gets an element).
-
I don't think you need the Element of Light. Just make all weapons able to drop as Arc, Void, Solar, or Kinetic. Even exotics.... 4 possible types with the still random perks. That opens up ton of different weapons to obtain. Look, you might have Mida with solar... but mine dropped as arc.... etc...
-
The thorn bounty was hard as hell even with a void primary. They only one was atheons epilouge and bullet hoses year 1 were the worst weapons in the entire history of destiny.
-
I don't really care about elemental damage. I just wish fatebringer was relevant again. I miss it so much :(
-
Adept and raid weapons. Done.

Edited by RPColten: 5/10/2016 6:59:37 PM"On this special Weekly Update, we at Bungie have decided to double-back on the removal of elemental damages on primary weapons. Now, any primary weapon is capable of having an elemental damage modifier to allow it! Hooray! Now you don't need special weapons anymore! Just equip three different primary weapons and you're good to go for anything and everything! No more adjusting loadouts to compliment which enemy race you're facing or what type of evironment! Just grab yourself three medium-impact scout rifles with arc, solar and void damage and you never have to change your loadout ever again! What a great update! We are so smart." Sorry about being so condescending, but there is a reason they removed elemental damage primaries from the game. It would be a huge step back if they re-implemented them on a large scale.
-
I'm glad they did away with it. See cabal, use solar fusion for shields, switch to primary. As intended. Sure it was fun, but there really was no point to use other guns. No point. They did destiny a solid for doing away with them
-
They could also do something with guardian subclasses that when you activate you super, it charges your weapon with the respective burn until super runs out.
-
Congrats on being the millionth person to post a suggestion just like this.
-
Good idea, just... Not ANY primary.
-
Edited by Corrosive Fear: 5/10/2016 5:27:06 PMThe idea is good but I don't think primaries need a elemental burn. Reason because it made the weapon choice in the game seem limited and really felt like non elemental weapons were as good as elemental primaries. I never saw anyone in Y1 during raids or strikes that had a kinetic damage primary unless they had a certain exotic. I feel like its fine to have non elemental primaries in the game and really doesn't affect any of the game
-
I personally prefer the idea of artifacts giving x weapons y burn, but this would work as well.
-
Edited by N7ATHAN28: 5/10/2016 1:43:43 PMI literally thought of this yesterday before I read this. My idea has less rng as any hard mode raid would drop a core once a weak per character. That core could then be applied to any legendary weapon to give it a random element. Bungie please do something like this. Also could drop from flawless maybe?
-
I'd say keep it to legendaries and instead of oryx make it a drop from Atheon and Crota to bring back the old raids.
-
Or....... You can use your special weapon.
-
Wow, another layer of grind and luck, pure genius...
-
I like that , except the exotic part. The element should be only for legendary weapons
-
How about just have elemental synths added to xur's inventory for strange coins. That way, anything and everything can be elemental. And you can pimp out your favourite loadout for each nightfall etc. This would stop the same 3 or 4 raid permanent elementals from being overused.
-
Honestly the game is all the better without elemental primary weapons. Also if they were to implement something like this they wouldn't make it raid exclusive because only a tiny proportion of the player base play that awful mess that is Kings fall.
-
If they added this element you speak of, guaranteed it would be sold for silver.
-
Give me vex back I'll be happy.

I miss my solar messenger:(

Putting an element on an exotic primary other then Zahlo or Necro or Vex which already have on them is crazy. It would eliminate any Burn modifiers. Good idea though. Maybe Destiny 2 will have some. Or bring them back for ToO.
