Unfortunately it's pretty prevelant, especially on the net. I would suggest finding a clan/group that seems decent and using 100.io instead of the other LFG sites. I found some really cool, laid back, folks on 100.io and there are a good number of stand up groups/clans in Destiny. Any of the Destiny Podcasts clans would probably be a relatively safe bet for starters as their generally family friendly and alcan be out of the shenanigans phase.
