I'm a female Destiny player. I've played in both Australia and in Canada, so I have a variety of different experiences to draw from. I have played both with my partner and without. In Australia I met people only through random tower invites(for two months I did okay with a lot of randoms) and in Canada I met people through crazy amounts of randoms to do raids with. I found in Australia with random invites that I was getting hit on a lot. And once they all figured out I was seeing someone they either blocked me, deleted me, or stopped talking to me. Once I got to Canada I honestly haven't had anyone hit on me. I've had one guy offer to carry me through trials, and his phrasing led me to believe it wasn't just him being nice. It's really not that bad, though one thing that sticks out to me is that most other girls I meet are massive bitches. I don't know if it's because they've had so many people hit on them that they're going to be mean or if that's just them, but it's really discouraging. Maybe guys persistently flirt but girls are mean when no one is hitting on them. It's a double edged sword.
