I've noticed that there are a number of games that females are particularly attracted to. Of course, this is not to say that male gamers don't also enjoy these games, nor am I implying that all or even most girls like these games. I am simply pointing out what I've noticed, and that is that many of the girls I've met enjoy these games especially.
Some games that I've noticed many girls are often drawn to include the following:
- Sims
- Animal Crossing
- Fable
- Minecraft
- Pokemon / Legend of Zelda
- RPGs (especially Skyrim)
- Call of Duty / Halo / Destiny
- Little Big Planet
- Guitar Hero / Rock Band
- Devil May Cry
- MMOs
- Mobile Games
So the question is, what is it about these games, specifically, that so many women seem to enjoy?
I don't care to hear "Someone's gender doesn't determine what kinds of games they enjoy and it's sexist to think so". Certain people are often drawn to certain things. I will not discuss this point.
Important Edit:
Many people seem to not be properly understanding the question, so I will phrase it another way here. Why are girls more attracted to the games listed above than other games such as the following?:
Other FPS games aside from those listed.
Racing games.
Fighting games.
Horror games.
Strategy games.
Survival games aside from those listed.
Puzzle games.
Other Nintendo titles aside from those listed.
Platformers.
Games similar to Dark Souls.
Probably more that I'm forgetting.

My sister plays Splinter Cell, gears of war, halo, and Diablo 3 with me. -blam- stereotypes

I mean, a lot of those games seem to be pretty popular anyway?
-
*OP lists every single game ever*
That's literally a list of games that men enjoy as well. There's virtually no difference between genders when it comes to game preferences.
-
You included games in every genre there is. Or is that the point? *triggered*

Edited by The Fallen Zyzz: 5/10/2016 3:46:42 PMHonestly, I think it is because the female mind tends to find these sorts of games more appealing. Plus, it doesn't hurt that these games are actually pretty enjoyable in and of themselves.
It absolutely floors me that so many of the people commenting completely misinterpreted the question. I mean, it wasn't that hard to figure out.
Mass appeal is a real physiologic thing. If lots of people like something, you will tend to like it, even if you don't really. Short term: cause humans are sheep

Social constructs, check your privilege, etc

It's could be your sample size.

Edited by bossdonut: 5/9/2016 10:45:55 AMGirls are most attracted to games where they can show cleavage and get carried by white knight neckbeards. Because girls are trash players. Edit: trash beards because they're shit also.

Racing games are not meant for girls. They are the weak hearted gamers‚ driving a car IRL is way more dangerous than in games if that was a girl
-
I've met the most females in ESO. I guess that is the MMO category.
-
So they like good games? All the games you listed (other than guitar hero and mobile) are par for the course as to whats been essentially mainstream/a hit. Really doubt gender has anything to do with it. Remember, correlation don't equal causation.
-
Well Damn I guess im a girl now
-
You forgot the most popular one: Just Dance
-
Tbh, those games listed are widely liked by most people. It's hard to not like some of those games.

That's a very broad list, js

In that list vs the second list, I see the main difference being story and characters are primarily dominant in the first list then the latter. The first list is a list of popular wide ranging games. I wouldn't be surprised if more guys in that list played those games more then guys in the later list. But I know that is not the point. The second list seems to appease those who like those specific genres of games. Im not a gal so your best answer would probably be that from women. But from what Ive seen from the list your provided is that alot of people are attracted to popular, story/character driven, multiplayer focus, good looking games that work.
-
Those games seem to be pretty popular, regardless of sex.
-
So like all games?
-
You know who else likes all but like... 2 of those games? Everybody.
-
You literally listed a bunch of popular mainstream games. So what you are saying is, girls like popular games?
-
We're all human.
