Greetings fellow Guardians and lore enthusiasts! We at the Ashen Conflux are planning on creating a Master Lore post. This will serve to finally correct all of the common misconceptions we see in lore discussions as well as double as a lore AMA. We would like to get as many lore enthusiasts involved as possible, including collaborations with other clans. If you are interested please contact at least one of the three project leads:

Is it still possible to become a part of the Master Lore Post? U guys seem to hav covered pretty much every topic, so I see why my lore posts wouldn't be a necessary addition
-
I love the Destiny lore. If I say yes, what would I be doing?
-
Lore bump. We still need a few more people.
-
Um..may I join? I may not know too much, but I am always willing to learn.

The Last Day Ta'aun was the Cabal commander who led the Skyburner assault on the Dreadnaught at the order of the Emperor himself. He failed and was taken, but his sacrifice allowed Guardians to board the ship and finish what he started, destroying the Taken King. This is his story. The Week Before Even from his command center kilometers away, Ta'aun still does not escape the fight. He sees explosions in the distance. He smells the ozone of Vex particle weaponry flown in by the breeze. And he hears the far off sounds of explosion. They are senses he has long been accustomed to. "You're really going to do it?", he hears from behind. Valus Mau'ual, who has taken a rare leave from the grind, stands without his armor and blades. "Of course", Ta'aun answers without looking away from the horizon. "Life is duty, and without it we are nothing". He gives the answer any soldier would give. The only one he can. Ta'aun feels a hand on his shoulder, gentle and caring. Any other time would warrant a harsh reprimand. The battlefield has no place for affection, but this is no battlefield. He lets the hand linger, knowing it may be the last time. The Last Day Now all Ta'aun hears is screaming, the cries of his soldiers falling, of Hive collapsing into ash from his bullets. He sees the Hive crawling out of every hole and oriface of this putrid ship. He sees Taken warping in from nowhere, some wearing his men like cloaks. He smells foul air of the Dreadnaught, breaching his helmet, clawing at his lungs. His assault team is being decimated, their advance slowed by an unrelenting enemy and unfamiliar surroundings. The portal cannot be far. The portal to Oryx. From out of nowhere he hears a radio from the rear guard, terrified, frantic. "GUARDIAN INCOMING! We cannot stop it, it's to powerful, it's ...AAAAAAAAGH!" Nothing to do now but press on. The Primus advances, his few soldiers sticking with him, even as the Taken multiply and the Hive screech and howl. Soon Ta'aun is alone as he scrambles for high ground, where he can get a better view of the battlefield, where he can rally his remaining men. But as he reaches a pedestal he sees nothing but defeat. He soldiers are being slaughtered. Others are ripped from reality then returned as enemies. Then he sees the Wizards. A dozen of them swarming the air in front of him. Chanting. Laughing. Singing. Some doing all three. For each one he kills, another takes its place. A tide of sounds he cannot end. Then the Primus feels a tug. From behind. Like a hungry jaw opening. And he realizes it's all over. Ta'aun remembers the hand of his bond brother. For one last instance, he blocks out the Wizards, the screaming, the smells of this foul air, even the Guardian he catches in his peripherals. All the he focuses on now is the last show of affection from his comrade. And for one last moment, Ta'aun is at peace. Then the jaws close and tug pulls, and all the Primus sees is darkness.

I've been a part of Ashen Conflux for a year now, but I've been so inactive in destiny, I haven't even noticed. I'll help if I can

Edited by Executor Hideo: 5/9/2016 3:40:11 PMI know a great deal about Factions, the City, and myself, but I am a little (very) biased, so... It's up to you.

Can someone explain to me why the Awoken who are not Guardians have powers? And since they do, shouldn't Awoken Guardians be immensely powerful?
-
Is this a place to ask a lore question? I have one, albeit an answer would require speculation. I'll just ask. So the fallen used benefit from the Traveler's presence until it bounced. Despite all the civil war stuff they went through/still go through, they retained space travel and some tech and stuff, so they must be more intelligent than they are depicted in the game. Is there evidence In the lore that they are far more advanced than humanity at this point? I ask because that mission on Venus where you ascend the spire and capture skolas doesn't make sense to me. Humanity has known about the vex and vault of glass and the temporal control the vex have in there for centuries (I'm assuming centuries? Ishtar collective days?) but then skolas is freed and the first thing he does is go to Venus to steal vex tech from the VOG, and succeeds in at least being able to make those platforms appear in and out of time, above the spire, outside of VOG. See my point? Either humanity is not as advanced as a bunch of space dogs, or they never thought about studying and adapting vex tech. Interested to see if there could be an explanation from the lore, or if, hey, it's a game, stuff happens. Fine with either BTW.

Edited by Patriot121: 5/8/2016 6:44:37 PMI'm thinking we should I get a list of what we want to cover. I'm thinking we should I cover at least the following: -General post for each non-human race (Awoken, Exo, Cabal, Vex, Fallen, and Hive) covering their morphology, culture, and history. -Each Raid (VoG, CE, and KF) with an explanation of how the mechanics trashed to lore where applicable, what the enemy was trying accomplish, and any side information deemed important. -The Weapons of Sorrow -Osiris -Toland -Six Fronts and Twilight Gap -The nature of the Light and the Darkness -The 3 Factions with seats in the Consensus -Rasputin/The Collapse I should I be able to do the "Light and Darkness" post and the VoG post. I'm sure I didn't hit everything we should get to so does anyone else have suggestions on what we should cover?

With this recent update, lore doesn't matter anymore. Everything will be reset when "Destiny 2: We hit the reset button" drops in 2017.
-
It'll be a great thread until anon jumps on it and shoots down every theory that doesn't agree with his Good luck
-
Look up "careless gamers" on YouTube. He talks about almost all the destiny lore
-
Would love to help if you got room
-
this is cool, i like lore
-
Destiny ghost story podcast. That's all you need to know.
-
I don't know enough to input but I'd love to read it once finished. The destiny ghost stories podcast is a great listen to anybody who doesn't have time to sit and read. The book of sorrows episodes and the kings fall raid with byf in particular.
-
I'm all in on this. I know a good portion of the lore.
