Alliterate Soldiers community members spotlight (Deteradax)
Every week we will be throwing the spotlight on one or more of our Clan members, this is to showcase our community and the clan as a whole. Each week we ask members to answer 10 questions relating to their gaming past, destiny experience and membership to the Clan.
Deteradax Chief Community & Raids Admin
1. Why did you choose that gamertag and what is the background to it
My gamertag is a play on words "de Tera" meaning last of or remaining "Dax" meaning chief or leader (deTeraDax or Deteradax) plus I'm a trekkie and Dax is one of my favourite characters. I wanted a totally unique name so It could be used in a variety of places I.e PSN XBlive YouTube etc. It does often make me laugh when people iv never met try to pronounce it, often non native english speakers get it spot on while native speakers do tend to stuggle.
2. Why did you decide to join the Alliterate Soldiers
Like most players I started out in Destiny after my friends persuaded me to get it, but until I got to their level I solo'd almost everything. Later most of those friends either continued with their own teams or dropped out of the game altogether. Eventually I got fed up with waiting for players who never turned up or running the LFG gauntlet, so I happened upon the Alliterate Soldiers post. At the time they advised mainly for UK players which suited my time to play and after a few messages back and forth to Millenium_Milk I joined up and never looked back.
3. What do you like the most about the Clan
The thing I like the most about the Clan is its members, im a social person in real life but never really got into social gaming like this before. Our members and admins are helpful, open and interesting. Iv learned a lot from this group, not just in Destiny but real life things also. I enjoy jumping in with new members and of course playing with those I know well, some who I have the honor of calling friends (you all know who you are 😉).
4. What would you like to see added to improve the Clan
What I would like to see added to the Clan is actually underway by expanding into other games and building a bigger gaming network, which I'm happy to have a hand in creating along with the other admins and members.
5. What is your first or main character including set up I.e subclass
My first character was a Striker Titan, I usually play as a tank in most games, but I would build an agile or stealth character with the added benefit of being a juggernaut. I still mainly play as my Titan in PVE but PVP it's my Bladedancer Hunter all the way, there is nothing better than stealthing up to catch an entire enemy team ready to pull heavy, just to have me super and ruin their day....Priceless.
6. What are your favourite weapons i.e primary, special and heavy
My all time favourite Primary was my Fang of Ir Yut, I love scout and marksman rifles in FPS games. My Fang seen me through most of my PVE activities but came into its own during POE and Crota's End. I remember finally getting my Fang when I solo'd Crota's End for the first time.
My favorite Special would be my Icebreaker, since in the early days of Destiny like most players I was a lone wolf and she seen me though most missions and solo Nightfalls. Damn thing was OP and I loved it.
My Favorite Heavy was Hungry of Crota (bet you thought I was going to say Gjallahorn didn't you). Since I've NEVER had Gjallahorn drop in the countless raids and Nightfalls I'd completed, I've never had an attachment to it, even when I bought one from Xur the second time he sold it. So when I finally got a decent rocket launcher that tracked I loved it and just like my Fang and Icebreaker she seen me though almost all of my year one encounters.
7. What is your favourite game type and why
My favorite game type is PVE especially the raids. I'm a team player and the raids are the perfect platform for that. I do however enjoy a bit of PVP, however in this game it is quite broken for my tastes but that's not to say I won't jump into the crucible, just not as much as PVE.
8. What is your fondest moment from playing Destiny
I have 3 very fond moments when playing Destiny, from my first ever Nightfall completion with 2 friend's who never did it either (2 hours on Omnigal), to when my friend enzomolinary and I created our Warlocks and decided to run them through the campaign as a duo only. However my fondest moment came when I solo'd Crota's End on hard mode, at the time I was invited by a friend to join him to run Crota, however the raid leader told me if I didn't have Gjallahorn I wouldn't be running with them and he doesn't carry anyone. So since I was ready to raid I decided to run it solo. I had been able to solo up to Crota but never took him down before, but that night I thought "F**K it let's go" and after 4 bloody tries I finally killed him! I sat speechless for ages then came to the conclusion I'd actually done it (and all without Gjallahorn too). I also found out during that time the group that turned me down were struggling to finish Crota, apparently they didn't have a swordbearer good enough to do the job.....oh the irony 😄
9. What keeps you playing Destiny
The Clan and her members keep me playing mostly, we all know this game would be unplayable if it weren't for the team activities, Luckily I'm part of a group of awesome players and a great gaming network.
10. What is the current in-game goal you're trying to complete
My current in-game goal is to get more involved in the PVP side of things, we have some fantastically talented PVP players in our group who help out quite a bit, so it's more Iron banner and Trials of Osiris for me.
