Loved all the Bethesda games, but haven't tried ESO, heard mixed opinions on it, what's your opinion, is it any good? Multiplayer? Combat?

Edited by Atomic Tea: 5/5/2016 5:13:36 AMIf you like MMOs then you'll like it. Fully voiced dialogue, a metric shit ton of content, Dark Brotherhood DLC is coming out soon, available DLC is pretty fun, PvP is a lot of fun, dungeons are your standard dungeons nothing too crazy, being a Vampire is awesome, lot of combat diversity that isn't tied to your class so you can literally do whatever you want (for example, heavy armor mage) Some negatives: Leveling is heavily tied to doing quests. If you hate doing quests, don't get the game. But if you hate quests....why would you play a fantasy RPG? After level 50, you start earning Veteran ranks, which is super grindy. I don't find the grind to be all the bad because it lets you play in a different faction and experience their questline when you complete the main story...so it's like experiencing another 30-40 hours of new lore. Which is kinda nice, if you like that. I hate crafting, and crafting is pretty much the only reliable way to get armor that you want. For example, you might get this really epic shoulder armor after completing a dungeon except you find out it looks like total shit and clashes with the rest of your armor. You can craft the style of armor you want, but I find that to be a huge pain in the ass. No transmog system. No armor preview system. Oh, and enchanting armor and weapons is really confusing in my opinion. I still don't get it. I recommend reading the forums though. I'm just too lazy. The dye system is really nice, though. Yeah, the dyes are locked behind achievements but a lot of them are pretty easy to get. I like mixing up my color scheme every once in a while. I mostly run the Ash Black dye you get from beating the main story and a red secondary color. But sometimes I'll mix it up and run hot pink and neon green because -blam!- it why not? If you like MMO-style PvP then you'll probably like this. A lot of people say the PvP system is the game's strongest point. I neither agree nor disagree. I'm not too into PvP myself, but from what I've played it's pretty fun. You get siege weapons like flaming catapults and battering rams which are fun to use. You can knock down the doors and walls of enemy strongholds and steal their flags (in this case Elder Scrolls) to give your faction useful buffs. There's a lot to like about the game IF, and only IF you go into it expecting an MMO and everything that an MMO implies. Please, don't buy this game expecting "Skyrim 2" or "Skyrim with muh friends" because it's an MMO first and a Elder Scrolls game second. It's not fair to compare a single player RPG to an MMO. An MMO has "baggage" attached to it that only some people enjoy.

Well it depends on how you play. If you're going to play alone then no because you will get bored very fast and get your ass kicked a lot. If you play with friends then hell yes! The game has a lot to in it and your builds are very flexible so you can customize your character to focus on whatever you want no matter which class you chose. You can be a cat. healer, chef, werewolf, guy if you want to be. Here are tips to leveling: Pick a crafting skill line (blacksmithing, woodworking, alchemy) and work on that. This will give you something to do other than just run around doing quest. And when you master that skill line you can sell the things you make to make gold or start up your own trading system. Yes there are trading systems in ESO don't be surprised. Don't just do quest. Yes they are the fastest way to level up but, honestly, they're really boring sometimes. Do group dungeons every once in a while for fun and to practice playing in a group. And if you do run around all day completing quest then listen to the story. The stories are actually very good, I was impressed with them. Jump into PvP too. PvP is a great way to earn experience because there are dungeons there where you can mob. But you will get bullied by enemies for a while. But dude, nobody starts off good. I hope these help with the grind!

If you loved all the Bethesda games, then you will not like ESO. In fact, if you love good games, then you will not like ESO. Actually, if you love things that are in any way good, then you will not like ESO. Been playing mmorpgs for at least a decade - all the major ones you've probably heard of and a bunch you probably haven't. I also loved Skyrim, Oblivion, etc., yet had no expectations of how ESO would be. I really, really wanted to like it, but it was severely unimpressive, poorly designed, and boring as hell. I returned it within a week. Total garbage. Don't waste your time or your money.

Massive grid so dissapoited

It's a shitty MMO with an Elder Scrolls skin. If you're looking to scratch your TES itch, seek life elsewhere.
-
Fun, improved. Imo

Depends what you want to get out of it. It caught a ton of flak because Everton wanted Skyrim Online and ESO isn't that at all. It's an MMO first and Elder Scrolls second. If you like MMOs and like the Elder Scrolls world you'll probably enjoy the game. If you love Elder Scrolls and are just looking for a way to oaky it with friends, then you might not enjoy it.

Get it. I've started to get back into it and wish I hadn't stopped.
-
Only thing you'll regret is not buying it sooner...
-
There's definitely a lot to do but the only complaint I have is the repetitive combat. Overall a good game though.

Amazing pvp.

I started playing it quite a bit again. I'm enjoying it like crazy. Lots of quests. Lots of people to quest with and the justice system is really sweet. Cannot wait for the dark brotherhood dlc.
-
It's a very good mmo.
-
Way fun. It has shit tons of content that you don't need others to play with or there is a good number of group dungeons or you can pvp. Personally I think the combat is way better than any previous elder scrolls. I'm not sure but I think I heard it won best console mmo of 2015. You can most likely find the base game for under $20 so I'd say go for it. I also play way more eso then fallout 4 and witcher 3 if it helps

Amazing

Get it.

Get it. It is a very good game and is never too late to start. If you're going to get a dlc as well get the Imperial City. It is the only good one in my opinion.

Doesn't it have a sub fee?
