It slows you (1), blinds you (2), removes your radar (3), and poisons you (4). But no, you're right - the entire community outside is upset because no one knows how to position themselves.

Edited by Bungo: 4/29/2016 12:54:17 PMIt does slow you, it doesn't blind you at all, just covers your screen a bit. Poisons you with a perk. And lastly, if you need your radar that much you deserve to get killed in a 1v1. You know a good counter?
don't run into the smoke.
the smoke basically guarantees a kill if either a) you run into it like a knob without hearing the beeps or b) they stick you with it. It's easy to avoid if you're paying attention. But Thanks for agreeing with me, it means a lot to know someone else has common sense too.

Helm of st14 in a bubble blinds you, smoke may disorient you but it's not like you can't still see outlines of the enemy, they might not be highlighted but you aren't nearly as helpless as you make it sound to be.

Smoke doesn't blind you, flash grenades are another example of a non exotic related ability that actually prevents you from seeing.

Don't need it to kill the hunter that threw it. I said it disorients you higher up in the thread. Saying it blinds you is overstating its actual effect.

Thank you for comparing a melee ability to a full on exotic paired with a super. That completely helped prove my point.

So you can't see anything in smoke. Like at all. Because that's what blind means. Maybe you see the smoke go off, shut your eyes and drop your controller til you die, then blame the smoke for being op. That's what I imagine you do whenever a smoke goes off. Flash grenades/14 bubbles completely white out your screen. Huge difference bud.

It's extremely rare. Usually you're only halfway blurred and you can just 180 and run. Easy. Or they just don't follow up at all. In a smoke bomb you cant turn and run unless you're already on the edge. The other benefit of smoke is that it doesnt bounce. You can come from above someone and throw it straight down without even considering the incline of the ground. I use both strike and the void Hunter. Smoke is superior. I can barely catch someone in it and they're marked through the wall. I know exactly where they are through the wall and they don't have radar to know where I'm coming from. It's an easy kill.
