I'd be ok with smoke if it didn't blind and slow you down, while damaging you.
I'd be ok with smoke if it didn't blind and slow you down, while damaging you.
And debuff you so you can't use abilities
-
That is literally what it is used for...
-
Well no shit.
-
So basically if smoke was useless. I see
-
Who said it has to be useless? Getting hit with smoke blinds you, takes your radar, slows you down AND damages you. Couple that with a grenade you can spam every 25 seconds. You must be one of those 'wombo combo' guys.
-
In a game as mobile as destiny I think it taking away your double jump and movement is perfectly acceptable. It's a smoke grenade! It's meant to pin the enemies down. If there wasn't any movement penalty it would break the grenade, ppl would just walk right through making it completely useless.
-
Smoke. Exactly. What does smoke do? It blinds you, hinders your ability to see. That's fine to slow me down and take away my abilities. If you're gonna do that, then let me see. You see what I'm getting at? There's no way to combat a smoke unless you run into a dumb hunter that doesn't finish the kill.
-
I disagree, there's ways to confer it.. Like idk, be a little more aware of what's going on. If the movement penalty wasn't there then the grenade would be useless, along with the blinding. It would be easy enough to just shoot the Hunter back. An ability that can help a hunter get one maybe two kills every 25 seconds does not seem OP to me.
-
Also, confer doesn't make sense in this post. Prevent you mean?
-
Prevent or counter, it was a spelling mistake.
-
All good, just a little confused about it
-
How can you be aware of what's going on? The most mobile class can shadestep and jump making it hard to keep eyes on. I literally only play 3v3 modes (trials specifically) so smoke/grenade combo is game changing. 1 kill is all you need to make the push and play the body. There's too much going on with one smoke grenade.
-
Just knowing there's a hunter on the other team with the abilities for the combo is being aware. If you see said hunter shading around move to a better location with cover. The grenade lasts 5 seconds tops with lockdown on. Get some flank work with your team and there you go. It requires more skill to use then most in destiny
-
You can't sit here and say that knowing a hunter is on the other team is how you counter it. It's like warlocks. You see that 1 is running a burn grenade and no matter what you do, it's gonna hit you. Same with smoke. Depending on how that hunter plays, it's a free kill.
-
Yes you can, just knowing what your opponents are running should change how you play. Battle in close quarter hallways if you can, you'll take that Hunter down before he gets that convo off. It's easy, any decent PvP player knows this
-
I'm sure I have TONS more crucible experience than you. You can't tell me how a 'decent' player thinks. Predicting what your opponent does is half the battle. You think it's hard to throw a wombo combo?
-
Sure it's easy to throw a combo of grenades, but it requires some skill to use it properly. A lot more skill then tossing one grenade that will kill if stuck, or simply popping your hammers/fist of panic or panic bubble. Tell me, what Nightstalker grenade is anywhere close to as good as other classes?
-
Skill? LOL. Son that's the whole point of people's arguments. It takes no skill

Edited by Talathiel: 4/28/2016 4:53:20 PMIt also removes any ability like jumping, using grenades, supers, melee charges, along with the blindness, slowing effect, no radar, and DoT. It simply has to many effects just for one melee charge. Can you imagine if force barrier or flame shield had that many status effect from a single hit?? Hunters would absolutely lose their shit. Edit: missed an s.

That's all I'm saying. I'm ok with smoke, honestly. Just give us a chance to either fight back or run away. Literally every other grenade/melee gives you a chance except a sticky.
-
You forgot shoulder charge, and overcharge (for Titans) both are unforgiving and kill you.
-
Was going to say "remove wombo combo? Who wants to tell titans they losing shoulder charge..."
-
If there's an issue its shoulder charge.
-
No i personally hate wombo combo. And exclusively run bladedancer in pvp. You just said if smoke doesnt do everything that it does, you'd be fine.
