How to balance smoke bomb without nerfing it

Smoke simply does too much with just one node Smoke (without any perks) should only take away the HUD and blind you If you use venom, it gives damage when you are inside the smoke itself The perk that allows to put smoke traps should also slow down the enemy when the bomb goes off/you throw it to an enemy, and with the perk "lockdown" extend the amount of time it can stay next to a wall. THAT is more balanced. Right know, getting smoked --> 1% of survival Edit: they could increase the radius to balance it out

      • WOW THE COMMUNITY IS SAD! No you, what you're saying is alright, not completely nerfing it but balancing it out a little bit. Kinda funny though, because ever hunter under the sun is hating on you for it, yet they cry out because the firebolt grenade is "op".

            • This is why we can't have nice things... If you seriously think smoke is overpowered then I don't know what to tell you... Every other subclass including the Hunter has a grenade that one hit kills enemies. Have you not been seeing the gunslingers running around spamming tripmines with maxed discipline?!! Yet here you are complaining about the most neutral sub class for PvP other than defender titan. Half the times people just walk right out of my smoke with a sliver of health left...and even if your shields are down, a smoke won't kill you with a direct hit...so stop complaining!

                  • This whole thread is filled with reasons as to why it's OP and what should change. Listen up kids cause I'm about to take those reasons and break down why they don't make sense, Barney style. "It shouldn't affect me in so many ways!" The combination of being blinded, slowed, poisoned, and suppressed is meant to set you up for an easy follow up kill. Removing any of these traits makes it not worth the effort. If I don't blind you, you could gun me down. If I don't slow you, you could run away. If I don't poison you, I might not do enough to you before the other traits wear off. If I don't suppress you, you could super me. "The Nightstalker is the only one who gets a grenade in the melee slot!" The Sunbreaker is the only one who can create sunspots. Gunslingers are the only class that can buff their gunplay from crit kills. The point is, each class has perks and advantages others don't. That's what makes that class special and makes destiny different from CoD. "I should be able to double jump while smoked!" Then why bother using two abilities when you can just jump out after taking a half second of damage? "If you get hit with the Wombo Combo, you're dead [insert stupidly high %]" The best thing about this particular combo is that walking is pretty damn effective. Unless I hit you dead -blam!-ing center and you panic, you have a chance to walk to safety. I've done it and seen it. Now if I start shooting you before or while in the combo, then you are dead. Which is how it should be since I spent two abilities and bullets to get 1 kill. But that's no different than being hit by an incendiary grenade before or after being shot.

                        • Space out the time between throwing the two grenades. Say you drop one of your grenades, disable the smoke grenade for a reasonable time so that you can't land them right on top of the other and double the lethality.

                                I'd be happy if I at least kept my Radar when hit by a Smoke Grenade. Right now I just feel like it does too much all at once. It's not necessarily overpowered, just annoying.

                                  I play gunslinger online, have tried out the old wombo in crucible aswell tho and have been on the receiving end and to be honest what ive noticed is this... Its a great thing for area denial and making enemies retreat, in my experience those that die to it are either extremely poorly positioned or making a silly rush and continuing to try and walk through it. When i die to it it is generally for these reasons also, because i was in a shit spot without a good cover to retreat to, or because i am trying to close distance and keep on doing that when i should hold back. Just think about what you are doing, it is generally your fault if youve died to it, smokes dont kill people, people kill people or people Kill themselves.

                                  • 1% survival my ass. Unless I actually stick the bomb to someone they can literally just walk out of it with 30% health left. I honestly the only way I can see them nerf in it without destroying it is increasing the radius but cutting the damage to 1/3 of the original for envenom.

                                      Stop giving out suggestions, all grenades are supposed to give the player using them an advantage for a reason. They aren't that hard to get out of, or away from. If that's the case "balance" the suppressor grenades from the Titan or the flash bang grenades as well from the Titan. There is no need to do anything to the whole smoke grenade thing.
