For all you who dislike the so called "Wombo Combo" ask yourself this, was it really so bad? The nightstalker class was an amazing addition for the Hunter, especially since they lacked what is needed for a so called "PvE class" back in year one. All is good in this subclass but one thing, the grenades! The only somewhat effective grenade is the vortex grenade, and without lockdown it's almost completely useless. Using the smoke grenade (while sacrificing invisibility for poison) with the vortex grenade made an excellent and effective grenade for a subclass without one.
But at what cost? You have to use both your grenade charge and melee charge, along with a slot that can give your allies bonus armour and recovery, or drop more orbs. To me this seemed like a balanced combo since alone these two grenades were almost completely useless. Especially in a world where both other classes have a grenade that can either one hit you, or cause some serious damage.
Edit: I have no issues with Walocks and their firebolt. For a hunter I am also pro warlock, just though I should clear that up since so many ppl assume I complain about that.

What is this so called "wombo combo"
-
-
yeah the wombo combo is fine. the super is very inconsistent, so the Nightstalker needs a strong grenade game to balance it. the wombo combo requires a higher accuracy than any of the sticky grenades (except trip mines) and those are all basically guaranteed one shots on contact. You can hit someone with a wombo combo and they can still survive a lot of the time.

Edited by Lord Fried: 4/28/2016 8:58:28 PMI don't think Nightstalker abilities are OP but I do think they're annoying as -blam!-! Something about getting killed by Shadowshot just causes me to rage bigtime. Smoke is freaking annoying. That voidwall thing, ughhh. Shadestep, FUUUUUUUU!!
-
Sure it's not that bad. But as someone who uses it and gets stuck in it, the affect of the smoke grenade reaches way to far away from where the smoke grenade actually detonated. It's never fun getting clean up because you're burning and suppressed fifteen feet away from the smoke.

Edited by BRAX7ON 117: 4/28/2016 10:11:02 PMCombining two weak things to make one overpowered thing still make one overpowered thing! It doesn't make it balanced because the two things separately are weak. That's just backwards logic.
-
Wombo works in PvE but is mainly for PvP. That is kind of at odds with the idea that the benefit of Nighstalker, and therefore Smoke, to Hunters is to have a strong PvE subclass.
-
I've survived a bunch of combos. And had people survive mine. Not panicking helps quite a bit.

Edited by brian the psion: 4/28/2016 7:23:28 PMI don't mid anything in particular about hunters but I will say there abilities do way to many things. smoke clouds vision ,slows, does dmg and turn you+team invisible. Then there tether which can have 3 shots (void GG) it jerks you screen when you get tethered (making quick retaliation impossible) clouds vision making it harder to acquire a target while slowing movement in all ways (turn and running). This is on top of increasing dmg taken (option for splitting dmg on secondary targets) taking away all abilities (jumps melees and nades) stopping and prevent supers while being the best orb making super currently. Oh and tripmine is a mine a sticky nade and a cone that while not being 360 but rather a cone ridiculous range/dmg while last in-game equivalent to forever.

Edited by WulfPak666: 4/28/2016 10:13:15 PMNeither is the sunsingers burn combo. Even if you break it down, that is the only thing that class has going for it even in terms of a super. Is it annoying to die from burn, yes. But it is also annoying to die from anything in this game regarding a class ability. (Shoulder charge, smoke, lightning punch, blink strike, etc...)
-
No. You're wrong.
-
The only reason I'm fine with it is because it takes your made and melee but I still think immobilizing the target is to much
-
I think it is OP but you have shed new light(excuse the pun) upon it
-
Ya it is bro, unlike the throwing knife, the smoke doesn't take any accuracy to throw at all, if it's anywhere near them, it will detonate and disorient/damage the enemy allowing the placement of a grenade on a non moving target to be more than easy.
-
Eh it def irritates me but I use firebolt a lot so can't complain. It's a good tactic just like a firebolt around a corner.
-
You know what was a great combo? Sunbreaker armor. Nuff said. Now it's gone. Thanks.
-
People seem to be upset simply because it slows them and keeps them in the bad situation they got themselves into in the first place and they die slowly, knowing they -blam!-ed up.
-
I read the first half of the first sentence and had to check... Yeah. Three hunters.
-
Don't look at it with logic! That's forbidden round these parts!
-
And they want my fire bolts nerf'd when they got Poison and Void grenades that last longer then fire bolts burn..
-
It should only slow you if the actual melee hits you not the smoke. Like a throwing knife. Then people will have to be more accurate with them.
-
I'll agree Voidwall is silly and useless. Stormcaller honestly got the only good new grenade type. However, the speed with which that Poison Smoke/Vortex kills you paired with how goddamn helpless you are to do anything about it is really annoying. You can't see, you can't jump, a toddler with a broken leg could move faster than me and I do believe it suppresses as well, doesn't it? I honestly wish Nightstalkers had just gotten the Scatter Grenade off Voidwalker rather than Vortex. At least that has the courtesy to just kill you outright rather than piss you off first while you helplessly stand there, an immortal magic god, trapped in nonsense smoke, waiting to die while struggling to move 3' over. I have no problem with it murdering me with little to zero chance of escape. I have an issue with it doing it in the douchiest way conceivably possible within the game.
-
Anyone else try to do this and accidentally use their super
-
Of course it's a huntard x3
-
All this bullshit is why I am trying to stay out of PvP as much as possible. Nightstalker made it boring. :/
