For all you who dislike the so called "Wombo Combo" ask yourself this, was it really so bad? The nightstalker class was an amazing addition for the Hunter, especially since they lacked what is needed for a so called "PvE class" back in year one. All is good in this subclass but one thing, the grenades! The only somewhat effective grenade is the vortex grenade, and without lockdown it's almost completely useless. Using the smoke grenade (while sacrificing invisibility for poison) with the vortex grenade made an excellent and effective grenade for a subclass without one.
But at what cost? You have to use both your grenade charge and melee charge, along with a slot that can give your allies bonus armour and recovery, or drop more orbs. To me this seemed like a balanced combo since alone these two grenades were almost completely useless. Especially in a world where both other classes have a grenade that can either one hit you, or cause some serious damage.
Edit: I have no issues with Walocks and their firebolt. For a hunter I am also pro warlock, just though I should clear that up since so many ppl assume I complain about that.

Good rant man.
-
Because its the go to first move for every nightstalker.
-
IMO the smokes make up for the crappy grenades.
-
Tl;dr but my response to the title is, because people on here like bitching and I guess the wombo is next

Edited by Kornby: 4/29/2016 8:24:47 PMWombo is strong.... but firebolts are broken. A firebolt is pretty much guaranteed. The wombo needs to hit directly to kill. Plus the firebolt can hit people around doorways etc. If the Nightstalker had a top tier super the class would be broken... but it doesn't. It has a super that works half the time and crappy nades if you don't smoke your enemy as well. Edit: the problem is shadestep

Because captain falcon and fox are op, it made a guys dick hard.
-
I just hate it cause it makes you feel like you have a chance to survive... But you don't. You dead haha

Because that ain't falco https://youtu.be/pD_imYhNoQ4

Edited by Votable: 4/29/2016 7:25:51 PM
(while sacrificing invisibility for poison)
You say this like it was a tough choice...and that people even use invisibility for PvP.
along with a slot that can give your allies bonus armour and recovery, or drop more orbs.
Once again who the hell would use these perks at all for PvP asides the thing that'll actually be useful. Like if a Defender was running the "Heavy weapon kills have a chance to make an orb" perk rather than the armor increasing & super cool down reducing perk or the bubble buff...buff.
since alone these two grenades were almost completely useless
Yeah sure being being slowed down to a crawl, not able to jump or use abilities, & have your screen -blam!-ed. Completely useless. 0/10 "Never again" - IGN. What are its grenades...void wall being area denial as well as vortex grenade. And whatever the hell is their 3rd grenade. Oh god please don't be one of the people that defend(ed) that Thorn was a perfectly balanced weapon as well. Edit: OP has 3 Hunters....I'm not sure what I expected. Move along folks nothing to see here.

Gotta bitch about something being op and this is next one down on the list, right below Warlock melee and right above Titan shoulder charge. Next week they'll be protesting Titan melee buff if you'd like to get your picket sign ready in advance.
-
Nothing wrong with it really, it's just very strong and compared to other classes (by other classes I mean the Titan) there just isn't anything that compares to it. Lightning grenades are powerful but require proper placement and in a one on one engagement it isn't as ideal as the combo or firebolt
-
Your point being? The community was furious that Sunsinger's Firebolts weren't nerfed, but you have to give up your all of your options to use it and it isn't nearly as close to a guaranteed kill as WomboCombo is. What's more is that it's pretty useless for PvE whereas Smoke on its own is great. Comparing melees, Sunsingers get a shield for 15 seconds on hit. Nightstalkers get a second grenade (i.e. a hell of a lot more range) that deals poison damage, blinds, removes radar, slows enemies and prevents them from double jumping. Can't forget the existence of a choice between Shadestep, the glitchy evade that breaks grenades and target acquisition, and Keen Scout, A.K.A the ability to see other players through walls. Combine that with Shadowshot being significantly better than Radiance for damage potential, orb generation and area denial (y'know, the things a Super is for?), why is Sunsinger the target of so many more nerf posts? Hell, I've already seen "nerf Voidwalker" posts and they were only buffed 2 weeks ago.
-
Because that's how Destiny works. Find the next best thing. Then nerf it until it is shit. This game is in the worst state it's ever been because of the endless nerf-fest.
-
I hate it. Don't want it nerfed but it's one of the most annoying things to get killed by and I will hunt them down the rest of the game if they get me with it. It makes it fun I guess
-
The only thing I don't like about it is that the smoke alone damages you, blinds you, slows you down to nearly standing still, and blocks all your abilities. It does so may things it's ridiculous.

Edited by Jungle: 4/29/2016 5:07:34 PMfirst of all only noobs need invisibility in PvP it should not even be allowed in crucible honestly but whatever thats a topic for another time. It's one of those obvious choices that EVERYONE uses and noone wants to "make more orbs " for their team in PvP because everyone is selfish and those extra orbs dont give you much super. so they are the perks everyone uses regardless, you dont even need the grenade just throw the smoke, trap like two enemies and just shoot them and bam easy kills that they cant counter at all. its a cheap tactic but pretty much every nightstalker needs it to be good. and then we have shadestep lol. there is no way to make people stop using what developers have implemented in the game but when everyone is doing the same thing and there is a CERTAIN loadout of perks or what have you, that you MUST use it makes the whole experience stale and frustrating.....and NO it doesnt take any skill to throw a smoke and grenade towards someone's direction to capture them in this "WOMBO COMBO" lol
-
What is your opinion on fire bolts?
-
Wombo combo Invincible dodge roll Super negation and damage buff on enemies Exotics worth using Cheeky ass strats These all work together to ruin my day
-
Look at all these scrubs. That's not a wombo combo. This is.
-
Basically year 2 thorn lol
-
The answer is simple, it's an annoying way to die. Tripmines and fusions and flux and lightning nades kill too but it's not as annoying. Same reason people call nerf in firebolts, it's a slow, painful death. I think it's fine because at baseline the nightstalker nades are horrible.
-
I think it's the fact that someone has to use both melee and grenade in order to kill you rather than use their weapon. It just comes across a bit scrubby?
-
Smoke does way too much for just a melee charge, you're basically out of the game if you're smoked.
-
Yeah, at least you don't need to use two perks to make it almost kill someone. This combo can do it on its own
-
Because smoke has no other use. Also I think the game was better off without nightstalker.
