When I was a little boy like 4-5 I was afraid of monsters under the bed and in my closet like other kids are. Well I was a little hellion when I was a kid so my father told me that if I wasn't good the Boogeyman would get me. For weeks I was afraid of the Boogeyman in my closet and I was certain he would get me eventually. So I'd bring little weapons to bed with me to protect against the Boogeyman but I was still scared shitless. One night I just started talking to the monster under my bed and reasoned with him and made a deal so he wouldn't get me. I began talking to him nightly and eventually I thought of him as a friend. I remember the presence of him being soo real that i'd look under my bed but never saw him, I just figured he was hiding. Over time I eventually felt safe and didn't worry. He crossed my mind every once in a while but I eventually forgot about him. When I got older and learned that there were no such thing as monsters I thought back on all the nights I was talking to him when in reality was just talking to myself. All they time I was reasoning with my own irrational fear. It was all in my head. The monsters aren't under our beds, the monsters are the people in the bed. So I refer to myself as a monster/Boogeyman. Because after all, it's us that create the monsters in our head
