I'll pick it up straight away if I want to.
2 reasons:
You shouldn't be abusing heavy ammo.
Most people on my team are idiots, which not even heavy ammo can cure. And if you're good enough you don't need heavy ammo.
You might ask, 'well the enemies will use it, so I will use it', to which I say you should stop the enemies from getting it in the first place.
Edit: Clearly many people taking this very seriously.

Here is the issue though, Waiting for your teammates can make a difference between winning or loosing a match sometimes. Obviously is you even get a sniff of red on your radar you should pick it up so the enemy does not get it.

I wait until another member shows up UNLESS I am at it first and I see enemies grab heavy... Then im taking it because we all know when you wait for your team and group up you then get rocketed or supered waiting there.

wow that's really dumb. Especially if you are playing with solo randoms in a close game. Your entire team having heavy could be a huge momentum swing, and ultimately the difference between a win and a loss.
