It's Iron Banner again, which means that once again, people who don't normally play PvP are trying to remember how. This also means- yes, you guessed it- someone is on the forum telling them that they're opening the heavy ammo crates too soon.
There's a certain etiquette involved in opening the crate when you're on a team. If you're the only one at the crate, and there's no red on your radar, DON'T OPEN THE DAMN CRATE. I can't put it more clearly than that. Wait for the rest of your team so they get some heavy ammo as well.
Obviously, it's a judgement call sometimes. There may be a red line at the edge of your screen... in that case, is your team closer than the enemy? Can you wait for them? Or do you have an enemy bearing down on you, lusting for your chitlins, so that you have to pop the crate or risk losing it to the other team?
But other times, there's no judgement to be made. It's a clear case of seeing that half of your team is still converging on the crate, knowing that the enemy is nowhere in sight, and just not caring.
Yes, there's an announcement when heavy ammo is inbound. But on many maps, that's still not a lot of time to get to the crate from wherever one happens to be, especially since there's actual fighting taking place. Not everyone arranges their game around the drop timer. Sometimes it's just bad luck. Whatever the case, delaying a second or two is not going to cost you the game, and having a few more players with heavy ammo might actually affect the outcome. Many a loss has turned into a win, and vice-versa, based on some heavy kills at the right time.
Think about it next time you're tempted to open that crate all by yourself.

I practice this anyways, but what I hate is when I show up first, or join in waiting with a few other teammates, suddenly someone other than myself grab it as another teammate is still making their way over. Of course whoever grabbed runs off and I'm standing there getting emoted by the guy who was a little to late getting there. I didn't pull it, I'm sorry!!!! It was the other guy! I swear :(

I try and wait for as long as possible to open the heavy ammo crate. but sometime it just prudent to open the crate so the other team doesn't get the Heavy Ammo. and with the new nerf to PvP heavy ammo that can change the match really fast as a lot of PvP players rely on Heavy Ammo to win and get their KD's. It is kind of fun watching so called "elite" Players becoming just average when denied their Heavy Ammo. I never knew so many of those players relied on their Rocket Launchers or Swords to inflate their KD's.In my humble opinion this proves that those "elite" players can't actually play in PvP with out the crutch of multiple Heavy Ammo Crates and are just so very very Average.

I understand it's frustrating but it's a dog eat dog world with randoms. These are the same randoms who steal your kills and manage to get a .5 kd every game
-
I know to wait, but if the enemy is getting close and no one on my team is around, I either take it and use it, take it so they don't have it, or run/die and let them have it

Edited by LxGhostSniperxL: 4/27/2016 1:15:55 PMWhy don't people understand that one person on your team getting it is better than the other team getting both? I grab it 10 seconds after it drops or if I see red on my radar. You're there or you're not. You had 15 seconds to not die.

Edited by Lord Fried: 4/27/2016 1:22:22 PMI wiped a team with a FoH a couple weeks ago at the heavy. They weren't paying attention. I also got four rapid kills at heavy near A on Twilight Gap. I was near it and my team was nowhere to be found. I pulled out my shotgun and killed four enemies that were trying to come get the heavy.
-
Edited by Fraser: 4/27/2016 7:06:28 PMI'll pick it up straight away if I want to. 2 reasons: You shouldn't be abusing heavy ammo. Most people on my team are idiots, which not even heavy ammo can cure. And if you're good enough you don't need heavy ammo. You might ask, 'well the enemies will use it, so I will use it', to which I say you should stop the enemies from getting it in the first place. Edit: Clearly many people taking this very seriously.

I like to sometimes suicide mission the other teams heavy
-
Sorry but if you arent around and the heavy zone is hot snooze you looze. early bird gets the rockets kid
-
Just die when there's like 5 secs till hvy. When you respawn by your team, guess where they all might be? Wait, this may be a horrible idea. Nvm.
-
There's no etiquette in war nor should there be

Edited by castingcouch817: 4/27/2016 11:40:49 AMMe and 3 other people were clearing enemy heavy and as we were clearing, 1 ass hat runs up and takes it for himself. And these comments explain perfectly why iron banner is aids. If you wait it's more points and easy kills for your team. Simple.

Reading through these replies gives me a greater understanding of the giant pieces of shit most of these people are. Unless you see red on your radar, you shouldn't pick it up alone. That's "How to Play Team Game Modes 101". No wonder it's so hard to win without a fireteam.

LOL, if you don't have the sense to be in the vicinity of the crate, it's your loss. I mean, to hear some of you players whine, you're obviously the best around.. You whine about "no-skill" players who only beat you because they're using OP Weapons or because of some game mechanic you can't figure out. Truth is, you're probably just too goddamned stupid to figure out how to actually play the game effectively. Go back to Little Big Planet.

I agree with this. In terms of how much red on the radar may be too much, it's worth remembering that because the heavy now spawns later in the game than it used to, there is a much greater risk that the nearest enemy will have his super - probably best to pop the crate when you first see red on the edge of the radar rather than waiting for the enemy to get closer.
-
Edited by ILyncher: 4/27/2016 10:43:16 AMI will wait as long as I can until it has to be taken. If I see anything on my radar I'm popping it so the enemy doesn't trash us with two heavy pick ups. However what really pisses me off is fools popping heavy with no enemies around him/her just rushing to get kills and none of the team get heavy because they didn't wait 5 seconds. Its ridiculous. If i play with my clan we will always wait, failing to communicate and just picking up heavy taking no consideration for your team mates makes you look like your not a good team player and I personally don't want to play with players like that. I think you should be granted less heavy when a player picks up heavy without the rest of the team present. Its a team game mode, so play like a team player.
-
Using your super and trying to take their heavy is totally welcomed too btw.
-
Sadly, everything you have just written is just common sense. Some people have more than others unfortunately.
-
I actually raged at a guy today on shores of time who just took it for himself he crouched by the heavy with his quillms heavy so i knifed him off the edge wish i recorded it :)
-
Get on the crate.

Bump. Filthy casuals

It's your fault for not planning as well as I had.
