It's Iron Banner again, which means that once again, people who don't normally play PvP are trying to remember how. This also means- yes, you guessed it- someone is on the forum telling them that they're opening the heavy ammo crates too soon.
There's a certain etiquette involved in opening the crate when you're on a team. If you're the only one at the crate, and there's no red on your radar, DON'T OPEN THE DAMN CRATE. I can't put it more clearly than that. Wait for the rest of your team so they get some heavy ammo as well.
Obviously, it's a judgement call sometimes. There may be a red line at the edge of your screen... in that case, is your team closer than the enemy? Can you wait for them? Or do you have an enemy bearing down on you, lusting for your chitlins, so that you have to pop the crate or risk losing it to the other team?
But other times, there's no judgement to be made. It's a clear case of seeing that half of your team is still converging on the crate, knowing that the enemy is nowhere in sight, and just not caring.
Yes, there's an announcement when heavy ammo is inbound. But on many maps, that's still not a lot of time to get to the crate from wherever one happens to be, especially since there's actual fighting taking place. Not everyone arranges their game around the drop timer. Sometimes it's just bad luck. Whatever the case, delaying a second or two is not going to cost you the game, and having a few more players with heavy ammo might actually affect the outcome. Many a loss has turned into a win, and vice-versa, based on some heavy kills at the right time.
Think about it next time you're tempted to open that crate all by yourself.

I like to die defending unopened heavy, even if that means sacrificing myself and a super. I participate in Heavy Ammo etiquette, as it is very helpful to most if not the whole team.
-
One time in black shield, at the heavy crate near B. Me and 2 other team mates were waiting for this 4th guy to come over. Suddenly from out of nowhere a warlock came out and Nova Bomb our asses. From then on , I decided that 2 or 3 waiting for heavy is enough.

Edited by Demon: 4/28/2016 4:44:39 AM4 down 2 more to go.

Edited by Weesil xD: 4/28/2016 4:26:13 AMIf there's anyone close enough that it shows them on the radar, I take it. I'd rather have it that I only have heavy and die than they get both tbh.
I normally don't die when I have heavy though.
-
Nah, ain't care. If I'm first there I'll pop it.
its MY heavy
-
Ill only grab without waiting if i get rushed and its to keep the other team from getting it.
-
I save my super until the enemy is at the heavy, then try to kill most of them so they can't get heavy.
-
Don't worry I'm the idiot that likes to rush there heavy
-
Edited by Lull9: 4/28/2016 3:15:44 AMI wait, but I'm not going to stand there with my dick in my hand for 30 seconds waiting for an enemy rocket to come in from off radar.
-
Yes, everyone, please wait for your team! It's common courtesy (to me, the guy waiting just outside your radar with a charged golden gun and a side of combustion).
-
I only open enemies heavy ammo crate. My team can grab ours, ill be playing tactically and keeping my super to use for heavy ammo denial,
-
"...lusting for your chitlins..."
-
I'd rather a teammates grab and die to deprive the other team, if it comes to that. Don't get me wrong, I love me some heavy ammo but we've all seen what happens when you wait too long and get Supered before grabbing it.
-
good thing I play IB with a 6man and none of us really NEED that heavy so whoever is there takes it to deny the enemy any chance.
-
Loved Nova Bombing 5 guys just when they got their heavy ammo.
-
I put my bubble up if I'm next to an available heavy crate and wait. Even if enemy comes I fend it off until I'm red health then I take the heavy. If I'm going down then I'm taking this with me.
-
Everyone just a saves their supers for heavy ammo rounds now so it's better to just pull it and deny the enemy of it
-
Sharing is caring, caring leads to mercy, and the crucible is no place for mercy guardians!

Edited by Ice Lantern: 4/27/2016 5:14:00 PMThe only etiquette that should be adhered to is to get there on time. Don't get me wrong, if you're a few feet away, I will wait if the coast is clear. But if you're not around when it comes up then that's your fault. I want to get in position asap so I can pick off the other team and maybe make them pay for being stupid enough to wait. On some maps getting to a certain spots with heavy is a huge advantage and I'm not gonna give that up for randoms. If you value heavy that much and you didn't get there in time, chances are (not always but probably) you weren't worth waiting for. Not getting heavy doesn't bother me that much because I can actually get kills without it. I find that the ones who cry about it do so because they need it in order to maintain their 0.70 KD. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gt_dzykSUuQ

IF THERE IS A GODDAMN TEAMMATE COMING RIGHT FOR IT BUT JUST OUT OF RANGE, DINT -blam!-ING PICK IT UP.
-
also, common courtesy, if they ammo if about to be swarmed by enemies, DIE PROTECTING IT. all of Crucible, especially Iron Banner, clash or control, is a TEAM sport. yeah you need heavy ammo kills for bounties, get it next game. keep that heavy away from the enemy and die with dignity.
-
If you use heavy ammo in iron banner after you finish your bounty you suck anyways...
-
Thank you so much! And well said to boot.. might actually get through to some.
-
GOD yes. Didn't get a single drop last night. Even had one bloke take it as our whole team was turning up after defending his ass from getting wiped. Must have been right on the edge of missing out as he literally took it for himself with all of us watching, which inevitably comes the 2nd part, fending off 6 heavy weapon loadouts from the other team. At least he did his duty and blindly ran in getting vaporised in an instant. Let us know where they were coming from.
-
Nope. Not gonna happen. Why? Cuz reasons. Every. Single. Time. Heavy. Spawns. I. Am. DEAD. Or. Respawning. It was fine back when there more Heavy spawns like in Vanilla. Now I can never get enough Heavy kills, not because I suck with Heavies(I actually wreck with MGs) but because I simply lack the ammo. I am done running for Heavy spawns. I don't need Heavy to play well, and I don't care to waste my time trying to get something which I will never receive. From now on I will become the Heavy Police, and I will attempt to shut down everyone who gets Heavy. Because if I can't have fun, no one can.

Lol.. "... lusting for your chitlins."
