It's an obscure video game reference almost nobody understands

I looked up what I could but my best guess is this Japanese card type game called Boo Hausue , the character designs are awesome-( if this was indeed the inspiration source ) Thanks for sharing either way! (^-^)/ P. Hikita of iron hamster clan NYC
