Hello and welcome to my 5 part weekly series detailing some of the greatest artists that have never been subject to a great deal of the public eye. Don't expect bands like Nirvana or Pink Floyd to make an appearance here, their music may be strong, but it's certainly not hidden. Feel free to give me feedback on the music shown, and maybe even a suggestion for part II!
Founded in 2009 in Las Vegas, Mini Mansions are an Indie band I came upon as a Side act for Tame Impala's tour in late 2015. Their Album released that year, 'The Great Pretenders' is an absolute reel of bangers and I believe they could stand to gain some followers, with music that may appeal to an extremely varied Target Audience.
Sporting perhaps the most lewd video clips to accompany an official song since Destination Calibra, their tracks 'Death is a Girl' and 'Vertigo' were hard done by to not poll in Triple J's hottest 100 countdown of 2015. On the surface, these songs are catchy and upbeat and yet lyrically profound, reflecting on the fragility and shortness of life, past friendships, and the detached nature of sexual relationships. The rest of the album isn't one to be passed up either, providing a tone very reminiscent of Queens of the Stone Age, Midnight Juggernauts, Foo Fighters and Muse.
I highly recommend giving these guys a listen, their music is just too good to fade away.

Bump for part 2

+1! That did not sound like it came from 2009!

That was a rather interesting experience. Can't wait for the next one!

I liked them more than I thought I would. Cool.

Eh, not feeling this band to be honest. But cool idea for this series, though. I'm always looking for new music.

Edited by FunguyV: 4/24/2016 2:04:48 AMWow, man, do we get four more of these? Sweet legumes. Seems like they've got a featured star in the band already, but I agree they sound like much more than half a million youtube views.
