I'd like to start saying that I am not making this theory from the grimoire cards. I'm speculating that the stranger left the Khvostov for us purely from cutscenes and hints in the game. I may not be right, and I'm sorry if I'm completely wrong.
So, in this post, I'd like to explain why I for one think that the Khvostov 7G-02, the very first gun you get in the game at 5 attack (previously 20 attack, for those that remember) was left for you by the stranger in the first mission. This may be a long read and I am sorry if so.
So, why do I think the stranger (the robot you encounter in the Destiny vanilla story, sorry year 2 players I think you'll have to look her up to understand what I'm on about) left this gun for us? I have put multiple points that I think indicate that I'm right about this one below.
Point 1 - Why would the Fallen leave a gun, which they know humans can use lying around?
This is the first clue, and it's involving the fallen. The fallen are known to be good in the dark, so how would a gun still be lying around after centuries of occupying this wall. We see dregs, shanks and vandals scattered around the area where we first pick up the gun, so how would one of them not have noticed it?
Before you give me 'Oh the door was shut', the Fallen know that a human, let alone a GUARDIAN can kill with this thing. They know that leaving one around is a huge risk to them, so they would've made a move to try and dispose of it. Even if they didn't get rid of it, they would surely have hidden it? Furthermore, if the fallen at the start of the game in the first cutscene on earth saw a ghost, which can revive guardians from the dead, they would surely alert their friends inside the wall to make sure the guardian has nothing to fight with.
Point 1 TL;DR - The Fallen know guardians can use guns, why would they leave one lying around and not make an attempt to dispose of it!
Point 2 - We do not know of the Stranger's powers yet. She could have teleported inside of the walls!
My second clue is that the Stranger is known to have incredible powers. This is hinted by the stranger's rifle, and her mysterious teleporting in the final cutscene of the vanilla story. Now, in this final cutscene, we see the stranger hand the guardian the stranger's rifle, before disappearing. Her ability resembles that of the vex teleportation, and this leads me to believe she can teleport. So, she could have used her teleporting to get inside the walls.
Before you give me 'Oh but why would she put it behind bars', I think she would want to test the guardian. She wants the guardian to defeat the black garden, the heart of the darkness anyway, so surely she would make sure that the guardian was actually worthy of fighting?
Point 2 TL;DR: The stranger probably can teleport, so got into the walls, and she left the gun behind bars surrounded by fallen to test if the guardian was worthy (she wants the guardian to fight the black garden, remember?).
Point 3 - The Stranger was in the area at the time of the guardian's awakening
This is very self-explanatory. The stranger was in the area of the guardian's resurrection at the time, and this one goes with point 4.
Point 4 - If the fallen found our ghost and us, why couldn't the stranger?
The stranger, as I've already explained, is very futuristic and probably has a lot more technology up her robotic sleeve. The fallen managed to find our ghost quite easily with their sniper scopes. The stranger could possibly have detected our ghost too. Also, the Fallen roared when they found us, and that was a load roar which the stranger could've heard as she was in the area at the time.
Point 4 TL;DR: The fallen found us, and the stranger was in the area. She could've heard the rorar they made after finding us, or picked us up on her futuristic technology.
Point 5 - The gun is very easy to find, there's little chance it was coincidentally lying around in such a convenient location
This says a lot. The gun was extremely easy to find, it didn't require much searching around to locate. The stranger would want to challenge the guardian, but not too much as he's just been brought back from the dead.
Point 6 - The Fallen found a shotgun in the walls, and locked it up in a chest. If they found another gun, then surely they would do the same again?
If you remember we collect a shotgun or a sniper, it depends, from a chest further on in the tutorial. It is stored in a fallen-styled chest, which leads me to believe the fallen found this gun and locked it up so that no-one would find it. There probably would have been a heavier guard on the chest if the ghost didn't turn the lights on to scare the fallen away.
Point 6 TL;DR - The Fallen stored a shotgun away so people couldn't get it, why not the khvostov? I'm sure the chest would have had a heavier guard if the ghost didn't turn the lights on.
Point 7 - The Khvostov's description...
The description of the Khvostov is a mysterious description, as well as being a mini-poem. However, there is a little detail in the description that hints towards the stranger leaving the gun there for you.
"Perhaps it's been waiting for you."
Waiting for us? This would lead me to assume the stranger left the gun there after we were resurrected, and the gun has indeed 'waited' for us to collect it.
Point 7 TL;DR - The description of the Khvostov says it may have been waiting for us. Hinting that the stranger left it there, and it has waited for us?
So, to sum it up, I think the stranger finally found a ghost. When she saw or detected that the ghost had resurrected a guardian, she knew that this guardian might be the answer to the black garden threat. She wanted to test the guardian, however, to make sure he was the right guardian to defeat the black garden. She used her technology to get inside the section of the walls she assumed the guardian would enter and left an ancient there so that the guardian could find easily so that she could test him and see if he could fight his way out of the walls.
And that's how I think the Khvostov 7G-02 got there. I may be wrong, I may be right, and this theory isn't something game-changing anyway, but I still think that there is a chance I'm right. Have a good day, guardians!

Edited by rZI3: 4/18/2016 12:54:08 PMits a game and we needed a gun, bungie put it there so we had a gun to start with :) even if the stranger had put it there (highly unlikely. .. could have been crow too) even so it would have still been bungie as they created the game :) it's like saying the loot box later on where you get another weapon was placed by the stranger too - like why didn't the fallen take that? You mentioned they'd lock it... wasn't locked my friend. If the fallen knew we'd use it why put it in a unlocked chest? Surely they'd take it with them... After all there scavenging stuff. - the story was so cut it be hard to say who if any one placed it there, I'd be more drawn towards crow putting it there after all you were meant to meet him throughout the first missions.
