April Update Ruined Stillpiercer
This post is a lament for a gun I loved. Is there a gun you miss? Could be any gun nerfed by prior updates.
I previously posted about how I miss being able to quick scope and then proceeded to generalize about sniping. So many responses centered around the audacity they saw in my post, believing that I felt the update "unfair". It was not my intent. I like the update for balance, not saying it is perfect but it made other weapons more viable. I'd just like to focus on how over the 1.5 years of Destiny there has been guns we loved that suffered at the hands of the nerf/buff machine. Stillpiercer and lord high fixer were 2 guns I loved that lost their appeal after updates. Sure they were ridiculously unbalanced and OP but doesn't mean I wasn't having a blast using them. Anyone else miss a gun?

I always found the gun terrible to start with so maybe this is why it feels even more like horse sh-t now. If you're wondering why I didn't like it it was for a number of reasons. The scope was a little too strong for me, the thing felt like it had 0 aim assist so I couldn't hit jack shizzle in anything unless it was exactly spot on and I just really really hate the perfectionist perk. I felt like self spotter was kind of a waste as well as it never really gets used since you'd be zoomed into your scope so the radar wouldn't be available. Just my opinion though.

5 RepliesYeah, imagine how anyone dedicated to using fusion rifles felt after the first, second, third and fourth nerfs. Then Bungie says they aren't being used and -blam!-ing throws everything you knew about charge rates and bolt tracking you previously practiced out the window. Tell me more about a 2 frame nerf to snapshot and a slight zoom increase ruined your weapon class.

Dude... Just adapt. Use Custom Optics for a while then switch back and it'll be easy mode

For me that's part of the fun of the game. I love the updates that nerf and buff weapons. True it sucks to finally find that perfect weapon and have it taken ( lol see what I did there) away. But that is what keeps it fun and entertaining. The hunt for the perfect weapon.

Edited by Cleat: 4/20/2016 11:22:37 AMIn preparation to the update, I switched over to using a Y1 P&T in PVP for the week prior. Adjusting to the ridiculous zoom was annoying to say the least. But after the update, switching back to still piercer and 1000yard/ambush, I didn't even notice the zoom increase. My sniping hasn't been affected one bit. The one thing I have noticed is the nerf to the ammo economy. It has just forced me to work on my gear build a bit more though. Edit. I missed Hawkmoon terribly prior to the update. Now that it's back, I feel like it's only a matter of time before it's needed once again.

5 RepliesHaving a harder time sniping someone who is only a few feet away from you does not mean sniping is broken, it means it's fixed. I have no problem dying to a sniper at long range, but the state of the crucible from December til last week was just garbage. I'm so happy about these changes.

If you're complaining about quick scoping in CQC range with a sniper then you should just stop, you're not suppose to win. If you're complaining about losing to a shotgun from range while using a sniper, then that's all you. My snipers were working just fine over the weekend, including Stillpiercer.

3 RepliesI don't know man, you saying that they made quick scoping much harder, then connecting that with "still piercer is ruined." gives me a very.. I don't know how to put it into words. You were using still piercer for quicks coping in CQC, now you can't. More you than anything. In CQC, shotguns > snipers. Let quick scoping be harder.

This whole thing gets much easier once you learn to use all weapons. Doing the bull dance, feeling the flow. It goes up and down and around. Harness energy block bad.

4 RepliesSorry I don't think you'll understand if destiny is the only fps you play, but sniping in it is hella easy compared to all other games but halo. (it's at least a power weapon in halo)

6 RepliesIts posts like these that make me wish we were talking right now. Quick scoping should NOT be a thing in ANY videogame. Its physically impossible unless you want to give yourself a black eye. If you really love the sniper than you wouldnt complain about using it. It was nerfed so its different. Get use to it and dont come to the forums to complain about a good nerf.

I miss ice breaker. I never used the exploit. I am glad that you can't swap for ammo. But now, when you die you lose all ammo with it. Rip my favorite PvP gun

1 ReplyIt still drags superbly. Quick scoping in CQ environments is stupid anyways. You should be lining up long range, unsuspecting shots as usual and drag scoping anything closer, and only if your sniper is still out and you feel you can't swap weapons quick enough. Sniper rifles are meant for sniping, believe it or not.
