"The rules.
The Ascended, whom I am now a part of, have rules.
No interfering with mortals. Period."
He sighs and leans back in the chair.
"I broke them to save my people. In retaliation, they wiped out both races."

"If you can't interfere in mortal business, then shouldn't I not be here?" I begin to think about... Something.
-
"I invited you, gave you the choice." He notices your distraction "Something wrong?"
-
"I suppose you did. Now, do these gods have their rules in writing?"
-
He shakes his head, smiling "They believe that they have surpassed the need for material things."
-
"Well then how do you regulate anything? That's idiotic! There's no consistency or anything!"
-
"Good point. See why I prefer mortals?" He looks around "Say... Take me with you. When you leave here."
-
"How? If you could not leave before, what do I change?" I sip some more tea.
-
"You willingly give me passage. Ironically, the rules are all about choice, yet I have none."
-
"I just have to say you can go?"
-
"Aye, let me tag along with ya off this planet and I'm free to go."
-
"All right. Sounds ok with me!"
-
He stands as well, handing back the cup.
-
"Now comes the small matter of how to leave..." I look around.
-
"I have a ship." The Ascended has the decency to look chagrined before tapping his foot on the barren earth. A rumble comes from under the earth and what you realize is a hangar bay opening. A ship begins rising out of it resting on the rising floor of the hangar.
-
I look up at it. "Looks great!" I get into the ship once I can.
-
"Sounds fine with me. Time to get off this rock!" I pack up the chairs and table.
