Yeah same. I'm at the Dragonslayer armor on NG+ and I've beaten every boss first try with no summons.

I never use summons on the first play-through. I like taking my time, exploring and checking everything, trying things out, being strategic, etc. Only thing I'll do on the 1st play-through is help out others on stuff I've already done.
