Today, our society and education system likes to tell kids that bullying is wrong, that we should fight back and stop bullying. This gives rise to anti-bullying campaigns nation-wide. But guess what? Those campaigns will always be an act in futility. Bullying will never stop.
I don't like bullying though I've been on both ends. While a great number of people myself included have told others to just ignore bullying, it isn't always that easy for kids in their teens. They haven't matured, they haven't learned what we have about life. All they see is the darkness surrounding them on all sides, and when we tell them they should ignore it it isn't always that simple.
So instead of doing all these futile attempts at anti-bullying campaigns, why don't our schools teach kids how to deal with bullying, how to build those walls on their emotions to where it doesn't bother them? Instead of allowing kids to go through school being beaten down why aren't we teaching them how to get through it? I think it unwise to tell kids how horrible bullying is, but never tell them how to deal with it when it happens because we all know it will. I think our culture today focuses far too much on the why and not the how, fear tactics instead of solutions and strategies. It is easier, after all, to tell someone why bullying is bad, and simply leave out how to deal with it.
Showing kids videos like these is way more beneficial. It gives people like me who have to teach kids and mentor them a connection, a way to teach them yes bullying is bad, but let's focus on how you get through it.

Whats that one show where the guy gets a bully and a nerd being picked on to agree to fight, trains the nerd, and the nerd kicks the crap out of the bully? Then he's like "now make up, neither of you should act this way, or I'll kick yo @ss"

Whenever kids made fun of me I said they looked like silly string and to go fix their shirt. Lmao I miss being young.

Edited by Thaddeus Hamlet: 4/10/2016 8:55:31 PM *puts on an antic disposition* Precisely! Tell kids to laugh at the bully's futile attempts to insult them as I learned to. Honestly it became a bit of a game to come up with counter-insults that they wouldn't even understand. Quite humorous.

the only way to teach this is to beat it into them

You want to teach people to wall out feelings rather than disuade then from being aggressors ?????????? Wow. We truly are going backwards
-
I've been on B.net, nothing a bully can say can hurt me anymore.
-
Bump for later please

I was bullied by 3 kids. One day I fought back and broke ones cheek bone. Never was bullied again.
-
I once had a sensei who just straight up told me to sucker punch a fool and beat them while they're down.
He then proceeded to teach me how
I've told my kids not to allow themselves to be bullied. I've also told them to stand up for themselves even if that means getting in a fight. If it doesn't stop after that, I will have a talk with that child's parents. What that leads to, who knows. But what the need to realize is I will do anything for my kids and I'm not afraid to go to jail.

Or you know, hit the bully in the face. The usually puts an end to it.
-
What you said at first the school tells children to not fight back but to just tell an adult
-
I never had a problem with bullying, and I tried to take as many people who were being bullied under my wing. When you look like a murderer (or, "Unabomber" as my brother would say), nobody messes with you or who you was around you.

Nate and rosa bully me every day, in many universes... *sniff* I only wanted to bring out the power of Pokemon... *sob* *weep*
i need a tissue
All you have to do is bully the bully.

Edited by Darkness1049: 4/10/2016 10:51:58 PMJust have them play true pacifist undertale and then lock them in a room until they complete genocide mode Or you know have the staff actually do their d*mn jobs and stop the bullying. I remember this one time this chick was quite litterally torturing me with the death of my dad and other stuff for about a whole school year back when i was a freshman. Attempted to sort it out with the teacher, the counsler, with the student, with other students to help me out. None of it worked. About a month till the end of my freshman year, I SNAPPED. Picked up my desk and nearly hit her with it. Ended up coming back to my senses and put the desk down and left the room to go down to the counslers... I got oss for 3 days while the girl went unpunished. As a pacifist well i'm scared of myself because of that incident.

Teach kids to fight back and the bullies won't bully them anymore.
-
anti any campaigns havent worked. i remember D.A.R.E. and M.A.D.D. drugs and alcohol abuse still rampant. anti war talks, it is all just noise.
-
Same with abstinence.
-
Any proof that said anti-bullying campaigns don't work?
-
I learned at a young age that bullies aren't that bright and you shouldn't listen to dumb people. However, there was always the fact that some just use force instead of words. I have never been in a fight, however my size, strength, and intelligence leads me to believe that I could win in most fights.

The main way to beat bullying is to rampage on the bullies, I guarantee (through experience!) that hospitalisation is a good method. Unfortunately not an easy one, that's why it continues, maybe teaching kids how to fight is a way?
-
I agree
-
Liberal schools wouldn't do that. That's an actually useful method.its much easier to watch bullying happen and then punish the victim when he retaliates.
