Here, I tell the untold stories of legends amongst us, and within us. Some paved the road for our future, while others went beyond the impossible. Tell me, will you become legend?
The Traveler gave its final strength to fend off the Darkness one last time. Now, someone had to take its place. Beings were given immense power by the Traveler to fight the Darkness. Titans defended the wall and fought off the enemies, hunters scoured the wilderness and led refugees to the City, warlocks were the newest guardian orders. They were studying the Traveler's Light looking for new ways to fight. So much effort was for so little, the fight was nigh and the guardians' attention was drawn to the wall.
One titan, Dillon Barkley, was training to be a defender. He yearned to fight the Darkness, but his connection to the void wasn't strong enough. He still had not formed a proper ward of dawn. "For months, I have practiced to summon the void to form an impenetrable wall. I have nothing of the sort!"
"Come on, Dillon, you got this. Feel the void consume you. Once the void has empowered you, unleash it how you see fit." Lauren Mills, a voidwalker, concentrated for a second and threw a nova bomb in the air.
"I'm.. trying!" Dillon said struggling. He pulled his arms in and clenched his fists. Void condensed around his hands, streaming down his arms. Small ice crystals slowly formed on him. He lashed out pointing his hands in either direction and an unstable ward formed around him, but dissipated shortly after. "...S***..."
Dillon propped his hands on his knees when he sat down. His sweat had froze from the cold void around him. Lauren sat down beside him. "We can train some more later."
Dillon dropped his head. "Titans aren't meant to use the void..." Dillon rubbed his face.
"Don't worry. It just takes practice. Void is a dangerous form of Light." Lauren tried to find Dillon's eyes.
"I'll try one more time for today." Said Dillon getting up.
"Great! Your persistence has always been my favorite thing about you." Lauren helped Dillon up.
Dillon shook his arms. "Okay, okay. I got this." Like last time, he drew his arms together and let the void consume him. Dillon closed his eyes and took one deep breath. He threw his arms apart and formed a ward of dawn. "This is numbing!"
"Woohoo! Now, can you maintain it?!" Shouted Lauren.
"One step at a time..." Dillon gritted his teeth as he struggled to hold the ward up.
"Let's try this..." Lauren picked up an auto rifle and shot at the ward.
Dillon struggled to keep the void under control, he was bearing his teeth. "I am having difficulties hold it up!" His elbows and knees quivered from the cold that rushed through him.
Then, suddenly, the ward collapsed on itself and entered back into the void realm!
"Dillon!!" Lauren reached out and caught Dillon's arm and pulled him out of the void's grasp.
The titan and warlock laid side by side breathing heavily! "No more training!" shouted Dillon as he watched the black hole vanish.
"Well, you got part of it down." said Lauren as she placed an arm on Dillon's shoulder.
"Yeah... I'm able to summon a solid ward, now. But if I can't maintain it with a little gun fire, I won't survive what those four armed bas****s got..." Dillon rubbed his hair.
Yelling came from outside of the guardians' home. Dillon looked out of the window to see what was going on. "Go! Go! Go! The City is just ahead!!" A titan in gold armor yelled to a group of refugees, one hand waving and pointing down the road, in his other hand held a Suros rifle.
"It's the Fallen!" Screamed Lauren as she picked up her rifle!
"Let's go!" Dillon grabbed his rifle and he put on his helmet! It had two extra metal plates over the temples and forehead. It also had five holographic plates: one over each cheek and temple, two just past each ear, and one that went from the forehead, over the crown, and to the back of the helmet.
"Whoa! Where'd you get that?!" Exclaimed Lauren.
"It was Saint-14's prototype, he gave it to me. I gave it some touch ups... Now Lauren, this isn't the best time for show and tell." Dillon locked and loaded his rifle as he stood next to the door.
Lauren willed her armor on. "Agreed." The two burst threw the door!
