OK, so here again is another huge plot hole I've found in Destiny's fascinating plot! So, in the Regicide mission before Oryx 'tests' you to see if you're worthy, he says this: "You... are the last hope of the Light? I have taken entire worlds. You are not worthy to face me." and sends his two ultras to fight you.
But wait! There's something strange, isn't there?! He says 'I have taken entire worlds.', well let's go back a few centuries. When the Traveller arrived, he 'took' many planets with light so terraformed them to give them life, right? You died approximately when the Collapse happened. Well, now that we're Guardians of the Traveller, that means we're technically a big part of him since Ghosts are our companions which are made 100% from the Traveller's light, so we really represent the Traveller, do we not? So the Traveller DID take some worlds for US. Which means, we are technically worthy to face him already since we have already taken 'entire' worlds, mostly Venus, Mars, the Moon, Mercury, etc etc basically. So either Oryx is stupid and stupidly apoplectic for us killing his son or this is another huge plot hole, BUNGIE. I would appreciate if a story director or a worker of some sort gave an explanation for this kind of silly plot hole, and perhaps plans to change this dialogue to a more suiting one.

We're already worthy cause we've slain like four gods already. And we didn't take anything back because the Vex are still on Venus. The House of Kings is still on Earth. And the Hive are definetly still on the Moon.
-
Maybe oryx is into Hyperboles.
-
Our guardians represent the last gasp of apparent conscious thought of the traveller. This makes us more than standard human but still not an apparent threat.
-
WE came after the traveler arrived here, we haven't "taken" anything. Traveler didn't enslave or destroy worlds, it improved them
-
I think by "taken entire worlds" he means absorbed them into their star field mutant versions
-
Hmm good point also Aren't we already worthy Since the travel practically made us gods already
-
Too many words. Thanks to you now my brain hurts.
-
Ah I get it. So, when your dad bangs your mom it's actually YOU banging your mom too.
-
Oryx has taken many many many more worlds. The traveler doesn't take worlds. He just helps them out a bit. Oryx took all these species and either adopted then into his army or obliterated them and fed on their light
-
The way the Destiny story works is a little weird. Technically yes, we did kill his son and Atheon, but we also didn't. Any mention of the death of Crota or any of the things we do is "a Guardian," not necessarily us. So to him, we are nothing but a spark of light that seeks to end his reign. We, in the whole Destiny scheme, are not the ones who delved into the Vex underground and killed Time's Conflux or the slayer of his son. In the game, yes, but not the story that's in cutscenes or Grimoire cards
-
Um you do realise taking or controlling a world would be to in full control of it with no enemies and all following you. We haven't even got earth as the kings(fallen) hold up here so how can you say we have these other planets with vex and fallen on Venus, cabal and vex on mars hive and fallen in the moon. We don't even have the dreadnought and we defeated its king
-
I am worthy to face him because why else would Ir Yut give me nice things during CE and Oryx's own Daughters give me nice things in his own damn raid? Why do the Deathsingers always give me nice things? Seriously I want this answered.
-
Oryx invaded the fallen, or eliksni's, world. They would have survived and possibly been oryx if the traveller, which they called the great machine didn't leave them. So oryx took their planet along with many fallen. The houses you see in destiny now are the ones who survived.

Never go full retard
-
No, the Traveler took entire worlds and made them habitable. Oryx literally took entire worlds. He's probably Taken or killed several hundreds of thousands of alien races. We're just the Traveler's minions. So, in a way, we're not worthy to face him.
-
According to a few sources, including the Hesparonaut Armor, it would appear that we terraformed the planet, (or at least Venus), as it mentions humans and terraforming machines, which might explain why Venus ended up differently than Mars... Or something to that effect...

Much troll such wow

Edited by Eethen: 4/9/2016 11:14:29 PMGuardians haven't 'taken' worlds. The travelers has uplifted worlds, and we are but slaves to the light. Also, he meant it just as "I've destroyed entire worlds, you don't stand a chance against me" not "get gud and capture worlds then we'll talk".
-
Kids should stop doing drugs mmmmmkay?
-
What youre saying makes no sense, Oryx isnt talking to the traveler, hes talking to the guardian, you saying we are representing the traveler is speculation, we were brought back to life by the ghosts which are made by the traveler but we are not the traveler nor represent him, this isnt a plot hole.

Edited by Stormhawk118: 4/9/2016 4:27:42 PMThe traveler has not "taken" worlds, it uplifts, and advances them in hopes they would have a chance against the darkness, none of the races its uplifted have been powerful enough to face down the dark, mostly auryx and his war moons (back then) and when it came to our system, it apparently (haven't read this part of the grimoire myself, but have heard many others say it) tried the same thing, and rasputin did something to it to prevent it from running, and I dont know if what it did next was its own will, or more of rasputin's control, but it did... Something, that stopped the dark from completely destroying us, and this time, when I say dark, I dont mean any faction, I mean the darkness itself, as some sort of entity that does show some kind of malicious intent, rasputin managed to scan, or analyze whatever it was, and I dont remember how he exactly described it

"We" have done pretty much nothing. We weren't even really alive while the traveler had shed light over the planets.
-
Et was actually a jedi

What you're saying would be equivalent to saying, well we should be scared of the taken thrall. They're taken, and oryx is taken. So they're all pretty much oryx! Law of syllogism doesn't really work outside of geometry...
