Due to the lore, I've found an interesting topic surfaced by theory. A theory that the "true Humans" do not respect, support, nor accept the Guardians as their protectors.
Update: I forgot to include that there are some forms of Information referring to Guardians such as Saint - 14, whom was actually much respected and loved by the people of The Last City, but due to his obsession with the downing of the Fallen through a long crusade, he is no longer commonly mentioned, but only as a legend now.
Nevertheless, we've gotten some pretty good feedback regarding as to why. Maybe the "living Humans" see us as something tyrannical?

Some of the city's civilians see us as angels Others... Don't Who could blame them. We are dead things, made in the shape of the dead, with that of a dead power. All we will ever do is kill. We aren't good. We protect what we want and kill as we must. This happens to adversely protect humanity at some points. There are some like saint-14 who were friendly. Protected our final safe guard. Others like Dredgen. Who stole/were stolen by darkness due to their weakness. And others like Toland. Who only wished to comprehend our enemies. So that we could become more ruthless, and survive. Sometimes admonishing, only for their words to be feared.
