Let me preface these sentiments by stating; this is my opinion and that everyone is entitled to theirs.
Please, keep in mind while reading this that I play crucible extensively and that I only use handcannons as primaries(mainly legendaries only as of TTK drop.) And that I dont much care for the destroyed exotics discounting The Broken Word- er, I mean The Last Word.
Formalities out of the way, I want to ask how the community truely feels about the state of handcannons, phantom bullets and overall tiering in terms of other primary weapons.
With the update on its way I was extremely excited for what legendary handcannons were gonna become and was hoping to see more than just 3 other people using legendary cannons in pvp.
My honest opinion is that there is not going to be any change with only ammo inventory getting buffed.
I dont see why my aim is punished for being on target after firing 2-3 shots... I feel many people realize that equipping a handcannon before a crucible match is like breaking your knee caps before a foot race and thinking you'll do just as good with crutches.
To fix the dilemma i frequently experience i think that handcannons should return to year 1 accuracy but retain the abissmal damage drop off. If the gun type rewards accuracy, then why are all my shots not garunteed to be on target?
I still do fairly decent in my matches but I've been so frustrated lately that I feel like I need to change my weapons to the meta in order to do well...
I think its also hilarious how bungie says they dont want to punish people for using weapons if they arent too powerful, but where are we now?
TL,DR: Why are you here if you didn't plan on reading?
Editors note(4/13/16): Hawkmoon with accurized ballistics is godly again. It actually goes where I am aiming 99% of the time and can do the bonus damage that 2 shots a good number of people in crucie. Still wish legendaries were more competitive, though.
Hope to see you guys in the crucible! I wont go easy on ya!!!

Recently got a water star with hidden hand looking forward to trying that out.

Where handcannons are currently is great. My Appellant 2 is currently wrecking kids in crucible
-
Love where they are now. My eyasluna has the fastest average time to kill for me.

Edited by JuiceAKAJBizz: 5/4/2016 2:12:10 AMSeems like everyone hates small hit box and phantom bullets...perfect example of how bungie always over nerfs and under buffs lol... remember the .04 percent buff to autos lol...can't stand all the tons and tons and tons of nerfs we had already...it makes me sick... year 1 was amazing and year 2 is fun but all guns seem so weak compared to year 1.... if u took a break a year ago and came back today u would ask wtf happened to Pvp...
-
I heard the lord high fixer is nice if u have good range...but it's tough to get a one to drop from package...n even harder to get one w great perks...

Edited by HyperVigiIant: 5/2/2016 7:55:48 PMThe range of handcannons as a whole was fine in year 1. There's no reason why that shouldn't be restored too. Handcannons didn't need a blanket nerf on behalf of 2 or 3 exotic weapons. They could of just reasonably adjusted any weapons that needed to be adjusted. Handcannons as a whole were perfect in year 1! What was wrong with this? - https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=SXGjM5CxMHE (Not my gameplay!)

Well yesterday I tried Finnalas Peril, fkn awful. I switched to yr1 The Fulcrum, oh baby.

I just gave in this week after using hand cannons Since year 1. Guess they want you to us Auto rifles. So be it I have had it with nerf this buff that. PvP get worse with each update. Love hand connons wish they were still viable and yes I know that hawkmoon is good. I don't want to us the same hand cannon as everyone else.
-
Hand cannons are fine at the moment. Like any gun if you get one with good rolls it's going to be good. Eyasluna is godly
-
They ruined legendary hand cannons when they nerfed accuracy. They nerfed all HC's instead of the exotics People had a problem with. I still use them but it's a pain against way better weapon classes.
-
I have a hand cannon with rangefinder and it hits really consistently. Gone positive every game with it.
-
Hand cannons are still as inconsistent as the blade dancer super. Sometimes (if everyone in lobby has a good connection) they dump truck people; like the old days. But then in the next match you can head shot an AFK yellowbar (at sloppy makeout range) and still not see headshot yellow. It's hugely frustrating because you get occasional tastes of their former glory but then they crush your hopes. It's like they're the 80's action stars of crucible weapons.

I am MonkeyPillows.

If your aim is on point, your shot should always hit the target. If this results in a ridiculous time to kill, increase damage drop off or recoil. There is nothing worse than lining up a shot perfectly and having it mysteriously miss. Well maybe lag is worse but at least as far as intentional mechanics.
-
An over range buff would be nice. However TLW is actually where it should be now, a decent close range range option that can take out rushing targets. So the damage bonus removal sucks but it is still usable.
-
totally agree.. second and def 3rd shot even if on target seem to miss 99% of the time.. slowing down your shots more helps but, if the gun can fire at that rate, why is its accuracy so bad..
-
From the little I've gotten to play since the update I've noticed Hawkmoon seems to be back I haven't had any hit detection problems whatsoever. I haven't ventured into crucible yet though.
-
I'm anxious to actually use my Hawkmoon, as an XBone player that HC nerf was utterly bullshit.
-
Im liking the poe hc atm. I'm going to test it in pvp tonight. I'll let you know if its any good!
-
The reticle and where the bullet actually hits is off on the Legendary HCs. They need to fic the accuracy on them badly.

Edited by U12070628: 4/14/2016 4:56:43 PMHow I feel when I use handcannons
...
I hate being forced to only use exotic hand cannons. Phantom bullets need to go.
-
Exactly , year one was great for hc . That was a main reason why I loved destiny . Hawkmoon is about the closest we get to yr1 hc's. The problem is that you need range for all hand cannons now, where before it was stability. If they buffed stability a bit then they would be more competitive. But then the last word might be op idk

The ib handcannon is good. Mine has range finder hidden hand and rifled barrel and I like it quite a bit. The uffern from the gunsmith is very good with litc and rifled barrel, can also 2 shot most guardians. The Crucible one was also decent. With the update the vendor one from new monarchy has a good roll

I miss running HC all the time. I used LHF till I picked up a Red Hand when TDB dropped and pretty much used that as a primary till TTK came and destroyed the class entirely. I doubt they will ever get back to even half of what they were. As it is there are so many chumps who run the "meta" that it truly is foolish to try and compete with a handicapped Hand cannon.
