Played the beginning of MGSV and it was absolutely amazing. The graphics, gameplay, story, etc. are great. Great way to start a game with a supernatural invincible fiery guy that rides a flaming Pegasus, a giant fiery whale, a floating kid with a gas mask that can use the force. I was a couple minutes into the game and I had an "oh
sh!t" feeling almost every corner i passed. Unfortunately I don't understand most of the story right now because I haven't played the other Metal Gear games.

A let down, al you see is HIDEO credits constantly and al the tons of other weapons doesnt make sense because you're only going to use 2.
-
All you need to know about metal gear is: NANO MACHINES
-
Hope you enjoyed that first part, because after that there are only about 2 sections of the game where the story and game play are intertwined well again. The rest of the game is mobile game tier collectathon trash.
-
It's a great game, you might need to remember to pace yourself a little. I burned out multiple times, but it's so satisfying to build up mother base, take down entire bases without making a peep, or S ranking story missions.

Love MGSV. Best Metal Gear game since 3, and reinvigorated my love for the series after the disappointment that was 4. You should listen to cassette tapes as soon as you get them. They provide a bit of backstory, and expand on events, story elements, characters, etc.

You think this game has a lot of story? This is nothing compared to the older ones. This game is actually lacking story
-
Don't want to fork out cash for all of the older games? Metal Gear Wiki has you covered for the whole chronological timeline of the series. Just be warned, the lore is deep. You have been warned

"Kept You Waiting Huh"

Phantom Pain is the game where anybody could get into it. What little story is there does not need previous knowledge of the series. To know the characters and how they got there, Snake eater (3), Peace walker and the main mission of MGS5 Ground Zeroes are the games to play, as those games take place before Phantom Pain. Just take note at what story there is.
Notice what the characters say, some words carry heavy weight in Phantom Pain.
And find the baby wolf as fast as you can if you want a good companion. He takes a while to grow.

Edited by Art Vandelay: 4/9/2016 12:51:52 AMLol you think the story in that game is good? Try playing literally any other Metal Gear. TPP's story was mediocre at best compared to all the other games.
-
Listen to quiet theme after you beat the game. ;-;7 and watch the tears unfold
-
Equip the butterfly emblem once you get it as well as avoiding Side-Op 51 if I remember right. Assuming Quiet is one of your companions.
-
MGSV is a great game. You may want to wiki some Metal Gear history so you understand some characters and plot points.
-
Mgs4 had more of an impact on me, the sheer realism of the weapon mechanisms... It always pissed me off in mgsv how boss reloads a half empty mag and racks the charging handle yet I magically have 31 bullets? It's the small details..

Edited by Oak_Khan: 4/8/2016 6:49:08 PMThe story is very very unfriendly to new people, if you want me to explain everything you need to know for this game tell me. If you want me to explain the ending for you also hit me up, many people don't. Some advice Skip side missions unless you want to -blam!- around. They are really meant for you to just -blam!- around with all the gear you get Develop a lot of stuff, there is so much to take advantage and play with in this game Try to do something different for each mission. Look up funny tips and secrets Listen to the cassette tapes

You can tell MGSV was a labor of love for Kojima - the amount of content in that game is absolutely amazing. If you do not have the backstory (or any of the story) then you should get an overview somewhere to really grasp what is happening. The overall story for MG is dense, and if you are coming in fresh it will be easy to get lost. Plus the ending will not hit youthe same as if you were someone following the titles since at least MGS3.
-
I got the collectors edition a few months ago, and I still haven't started it. Too much games, not enough time.
-
Love the game
-
*Unicorn, not Pegasus.

My personal game of the year for 2015
-
I highly recommend playing all the metal gear games, just make sure you play them in the right order ;)
You'll see what I mean
-
You should really try the other titles if only for the story. MGS is one of my all time favorite games series. Enjoy the ride.
-
Never played MG game myself until they gave Ground Zeroes away for free. Its a good ass game.
-
It's a great ride, enjoy it!

I couldn't complete it. It started off amazing and I was absolutely loving it but it was just the same missions over & over again. I heard it got better once you left the desert but I never made it that far.
