I have a question about saving the crucible/vanguard packages for the update.
If I level crucible and vanguard up before the update will I be able to then immediately redeem them for updated weapons like the shadow price? Or will it already have chosen my reward as a preupdate item?

The best way is to edge your factions just to the point of them leveling up and wait till after the update to actually push them to the next level. For instance my titan and warlock crucible reputation are both just shy of levelling up and I have 2 completed bounties saved to top them off. I'm working on my hunter more to do the same. I like to get the rep to like 2350+ and save a bounty. That way on the day of the update I can just turn in my bounties and instantly get 3 packages that will for sure contain new gear. I do this every update/DLC.
