I remember meeting a Hunter in a forest. It was winter and I was absolutely freezing. I walked in a forest at night. I can't remember where.
The forest was huge. It was covered in 5 feet of fluffy snow I had to trudge through.
It was snowing, and my ghost, Ionic, was begging me to go back to the City.
"Why aren't you a Hunter popsicle yet?" she complained, "I'm about to become an Ionic frostie."
She makes a lot of wise cracks including her name when she complains.
I saw movement through the trees. I saw seven blurs of grey. One of them was bigger than the others.
They stopped for a minute. I saw that they were wolves.
The largest wolf of the pack flickered in appearance, and it looked like a Hunter in a Wolfswood cloak and a full set of Bog Wild 1.0 armor.
"Ionic, where's the nearest clearing?" I asked.
"Three miles from here," she replied. "You better be building a fire. Because there a icicles pointing out of my shell in all directions. I probably look like a frozen cactus."
Caleb says and I quote: "Ionic is the b***hiest ghost I have ever met."
I trudged to the clearing. The snow there was 3 feet tall. I saw the wolves again. They were running towards me. They were 9 miles away. I had time to figure out who the Hunter was.
"Ionic. Tell me the list of missing Hunters?"I asked.
She replied, "Okay. Maria Kindell, Gunslinger, can summon fire. William-67, Bladedancer, has a collection of knivies. Lukas Dylan Hudson, Nightstalker, shape-shifts into, can talk to animals. Jesse-"
"Stop. You see the largest wolf in the pack that's running at us. Do you think it's Lukas?" I asked.
The wolf jumped up, turning into the Hunter, and firing a tether at us. It missed by 6 inches, grabbing my leg.
"Yep, that's Lukas," Ionic said, "And Marsha."
"Marsha?"
"I was lucky to get a cool name like Ionic."
Lukas and his pack cand running. He drew closer, a knife pulled. I looked around his neck and there was an amethyst on a string tied to it, not matching the bloody teeth on the necklace.
He was quick, and had his knife at my throat, and I was surronded by wolves.
"This is my territory. You do not belong," he said.
Thinking quickly, I grabbed my knife and slit his wrist. I knew I had cut the right arm when he dropped his blade. I kicked him in the face and grabbed the amethyst from his neck.
"Give it back," Lukas ordered. He had retrieved his knife.
"So this is important to you?" I asked studying the gem.
"I didn't say that," he snapped.
"You didn't need to."
"Run. Before I tear you to shreds."
"Why is it important to you?"
"I am the wolf. I am wild."
"And I am a Bladedancer. With hungering blades. Who are you?"
"A wolf."
I had enough. I attacked head on. Lukas lie dead in the ground, Marsha flying near his body. The wolves scattered. I still had the feeling that I was being watched.
