Look, I'm not going to read everything you wrote because I don't have time. That being said, I want to ask you why you want us to throw pillows at each other. If we used snipers as a base for balance rather than nerf everything into oblivion, wouldn't that also work? Maybe some buffing is necessary in other areas to counter snipers. Or maybe we should all laugh at you because you can't stand getting beat.
Edit: now that I've had the time to read what you've had to say, allow me to kindly tell you that we had to adapt to the shotgun glory days as well. The difference is that we actually tried to adapt.. We used teamwork and formed contingencies for shotguns that could clear a room with collaterals from 10 meters. Your post makes you out to be more of a hypocrite than you intended to make us out to be. If you really want to see a change in the community, stop playing the blame game with your posts and make a viable suggestion. Otherwise, kindly be quiet.

Ive been saying this for a while.

Um. No. There were 100x more nerf shotgun post that any gun ever had even thorn. Please gtfo. All anyone talked about was nerf shotguns. Ok fine they were alittle long ranged for a game like this, but that said they were the one thing that could counter snipers superb target aquisition and with their extreme nerf snipers are left Un checked. If shotguns don't get alittle range back then some serious descope of some type needs to be in order.
-
Another thing, I overlooked the part where you mentioned shotguns getting a little range back. I'm totally okay with this too and it's much easier from a development point of view. Really, what made shotguns super effective was shot package. The max range shotguns right now I feel are balanced, and have room for a touch more. It isn't as if they aren't doing their job at the moment, and I've never been great with shotguns because it doesn't fit my play style, but sometimes I feel downright bad when stillpiercer can line up the headshot before they are even close enough to slide. Another suggestion would be scope blur within a certain range. Not terrible blur, but play with the focus of the scope when something is within say 10 meters.
-
Yea. I feel like the shotguns with the low impact should be able to roll shotpackage, and ones with high impact cannot. Maybe even say if a shotgun rolls rifled barrel then it can't roll shot package. I think the way they nerf things is just a very lazy way to do it when there's so many ways they could go about balancing

Edited by ruppettypuppetty: 4/3/2016 3:05:41 PMTell that to everyone that used effrideets or any other low to average aa sniper in y1. I do agree the nerfs shotguns have taken were too much imo though.

We aren't talking about aim assist. Aim assist doesn't do anything but stick the reticle one the aim is lined up. We're talking about how sniper are stronger than they should be because of how the aim can be held while under heavy fire. That's what causes them to be to strong and be able to be used outside their arctype.

I have no quarrel with you, good sir. Please, restrain yourself. I honestly don't care what happens to weapons in the game because I'll play it regardless. If snipers are descoped then they will be pointless to use in large format PVP game modes. If it bothers you that much, you should probably be talking to someone who actually takes this game more seriously than myself. In the end, any change to the scoping mechanics of snipers will dramatically change the way the game is played in PVE. This will upset the silent majority and in turn will have negative consequences for the future of the game. Perhaps we should have buffed sniper rifles and left shotguns like they were? You tell me.
-
You assume when someone says descope it means they will be pulled out of their scope when their shot in the toe. No. Amd it wouldn't be implemented in pve. Body shots wouldn't descope only headshots. Body shots would actually drop your entire reticle down each time you're hit causing you to rejust you aim. If you don't reajust you'd be staring at the ground. The way it works now... well it just doesn't work. There isn't any reaction when your hit while aiming. If there were there wouldn't be an issue. All I'm saying is taking shots to the dome and still pulling off the crit is bogus. It shouldn't happen.. ever. Right now snipers can be used in any situation and according to bungie "relying on one weapon in all situation isn't something we want" their explanation for all their nerfs were because the weapons was able to be used for every situation . The autos range was to long causing it to be use to much. Nerfed. The pulse had scout range, nerf. The handcanons had pulse range. Nerf. If bungie wants to live up to that word then they need to look at snipers hard core and figure out a way to make snipers not be able to be used up close with quick snipes. Or while jumping. Or while running. Most importantly while taking crit shots with high caliber rounds. Lol If they want to live up to that word they need to make them most effective at long stationary range. Or else their just big ol hypocrites.
-
Now you're speaking my language! Especially the high caliber rounds part. I could deal with that idea, but I'd rather not see the descope happen period. I'm not even trying to defend snipers with that point, it's a matter of input/output and feedback. If I press and hold a button, I really don't want a game mechanic to rip that away. Especially in a game that has formed muscle memory habits in users. It's a little bit of a stretch, but imagine a bird hitting the cockpit of a plane and suddenly the engines shut off, forcing you to throttle up again, except there's 4 more birds coming in quick succession. That is much worse than what happened to shotguns in my opinion. I'm a-okay with flinch forcing aim down, because I absolutely agree that it's broken the way it is now. What if the body shots forced aim down, and crits forced aim upwards and more violently?
-
That def could work. But just fyi the birds analogy doesn't really work here because a plane is much more indistructive than a bird. You head isn't indistructive to bullets. Lol just sayin.

Edited by AquanotSteve: 4/3/2016 2:43:31 PMHaha I know I just couldn't think of a better analogy on the spot to explain my viewpoint. Thank you for at least making an effort to understand the concept lol. I really enjoyed our convo. Don't see too many people on different sides compromising here. Edit: (what if it was a really, really big bird?) jk

A teradactal? Probably didn't spell that right.

Too long, didn't read.

lol I don't blame you in the least.

This is exactly what I wanted to say but I couldn't be bothered cos all anyone ever does is whine. Thank you
