There are lots of official Bungie released Introductions on the game , like how they mention open world and areas that are behind hidden areas are explorable etc.. :) If you want to investigate about Pre 2014 Destiny , you can start with reading Marty O Donnel vs Bungie law cause and then watch those video's. Trust me you'll not care about missing exotics any further
